Busted. I knew when I saw the title of this topic you'd be holding court, you being an expert in nutrition, Body Building and everything else:laugh:

That aside, let me ask you a serious question. Do you think Americans would be better off if they ate healthier and stopped frequenting Fast Food Restaurants?

I think Americans (Hell, people all over the world) would be better off if they learned moderation in all things and lived more active lifestyles.

But that wasn't the point of the thread, now was it?

BTW, I'm not being an "expert in nutrition" in this thread. Only exposing the irrational myth that somehow McDonald's burgers are less healthy than burgers served at any other restaurant.
Actually for many of us McDonalds is a synonym for Fast Food Joints. So when we say McDonalds food is crap we mean all fast food restaurants food is crap for the most part. At least at Sit Down Restaurants they offer you healthy choices that actually taste good such as Baked Chicken and Broiled Fish. Even AppleBees has items listed on their menu for the health conscious.

And yet Applebees refuses to list the nutritional info of their foods. Because they usually take healthy food and make it unhealthy to remain competitive in taste... as do most restaurants. The broiled fish is smothered in butter and oils. The baked chicken will often be much the same. Hell, many places will smother grilled chicken in margarine for taste. Sad, yes I know. But that's what happens when you are in competition for taste... you make it taste good no matter what it takes.

Most people in this thread are singling out McDonald's, and not using it as merely an example or synonym. People will tell you how awful McDonald's is then tell you of their love for another burger joint.
Ah now you are wrong, AppleBees does list the nutritional info, at least on the items they have listed in the Healthy Choice Menu. I know from experience as I eat there when on rare occasions I do go out to a Restaurant

Yeah, their "Weight Watchers" stuff is listed. But none of their other stuff is even available.

But from what I've seen they do not list trans fats, saturated fats, or sodium. Just calories totals fats and fiber.
Those meals don't taste like they have any trans fats from margerine of saturated fats from butter on them. If they do use oil it's probably some kind of healthy vegitable oil.

Anyway, if people ate McDonalds or any other Restaurant food as seldom as I do what's in their food wouldn't really matter. The problem with Fast Food Joints is that they are too convenient and people are lazy, a bad combination.

You can taste trans fats? :Q Amazing!

I'm not a fan of McD's food but occassionally get an urge to eat some of the fries. The problem is that their fries are quite possibly the worst thing ever consumed if you don't get them fresh.

Here's a more accurate comparison:

2 x McDonald's Hamburger (520 cal/18 g fat/2 g fiber/66 g carbs)
Wendy's Ultimate Chicken Grill Sandwich (360 cal/7 g fat/2 g fiber/44 g carbs)

Accurate? Say how? You're comparing double beef to chicken?

McDonald's Hamburger
Serving Size: 100 g

Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich
Serving Size: 230 g

Actually, you're right, I should have compared 2.3 hamburgers to a wendy's chicken, not just two. Correction then:

2.3 x McDonald's Hamburger (598 cal/20.7 g fat/2.3 g fiber/75.9 g carbs)
Wendy's Ultimate Chicken Grill Sandwich (360 cal/7 g fat/2 g fiber/44 g carbs)

Even more unhealthy on diect comparison! Congrats Raduque!

He was comparing chicken to chicken and burger to burger among fast food restaurants. How did you get to burger to chicken?

He was comparing unequal portion sizes. That was the point. Which is something you yourself brought up in a subsequent post. At least I agree with you that some sit down places have bigger portions which = unhealthier, but not on a lb for lb basis. McD's still fries their burgers, which is nasty and more unhealthy. At least if you grill them, the fat can burn and run off - gimme a Weber and some charcoal and you have a healthier burger than McD's.

And I was comparing chicken to burgers because I wont eat that McCrapBurger. I do eat a couple spicy chickens per month tho.

Sorry if this has been talked about, I didn't read the whole thread. One thing I hate about McD is the size of the meat like the Big Mac, it's smaller than my palm. I have to eat 3 of them just to get full. I used to like McD, but now I go to Burger King (double whopper > big mac) or Wendy's.

Um, no. He was compairing roughly equal size burgers to burgers and equal size chicken sandwiches to chicken sandwiches from competing resturants.

Just admit you misread it when you compaired chicken to burger and get over it.

BTW, BK grills their burgers and still has as much fat as McDonald's. The fat you lose to grilling is insignificant. If you want a low fat meal, cook low fat foods like fish or chicken. The whole taste to beef is in the fat. The less fat, the more tasteless the beef. Grilling ultra lean beef just makes for hockey puck burgers.

I hate McDonlands because of the "McSmell" (tm).

I've noticed before, that regardless of what you eat there, your skin will excrete the smell, burgers, fries, even shakes and cones. I suspect there is some aditive to the edible oils they use in the products that is consistent.

I can taste trans-fats if there is enough in just about any product. Different mouth-feel too (so maybe it's more than just taste). Same with McSmell, maybe they are related. I started avoiding trans fats a long time ago (~1990), mostly for health, but soon I discovered there is a particular flavour they contain I'd rather avoid.

Wendy's $1 chicken sandwich > McD's $1 chicken sandwich.
Wendy's $1 for 5 chicken nuggets > McD's $1 for 4 chicken nuggets

Shall I go on?

Yes, tell us how your personal tastes should be universal and everyone should agree with them.

Not liking a particular resturant's food is no reason to slander and "hate" that restaurant. Taste is subjective.

Yep, Coke doesn't ship out the final product to food places. They get the syrup and mix it with carbonated water. McDonald's does the best job of anyone.

Although it is very tasty, it is a complete ripoff for what you get in terms of nutrition.

People don't know this, and so they feed it to their children, eat it every day for lunch, and then they wonder why they feel like sh1t in the morning and their kids have ADD.

McDonalds does not care.

That is why everyone hates them.

I don't eat a McD's because I don't like the flavor of their burgers, simple as that. Other joints like BK and Wendy's and others have better tasting burgers. I do like their fries though; they're good for your average fast food joint fries.

Now wait, McDonald's serves the same exact food any other burger joint does, fast or sit-down. Why would you single out McDonald's?

Do you think that every McDonald's actually mixes the syrup the same way? My point is that it is not a McDonald's product - just something some guy is mixing together, and I doubt it is something held uniform across the franchise.

Calories, fat, carbs, protein ect.

As a company I love them, as I place I'd like to eat I find it disgusting. Most of their stuff tastes alright, but the majority of it is just horrible for you; I generally find I don't respect many of the fat, worthless idiots in there, and I like to take my time and actually eat, not just run somewhere to pick up food.

Maybe at yours, but no McD's around here does that.
