Not at all, I have a craving for some fast food right now. There's a guy in supersize me that has eaten something like 19,000 big macs - and he is fairly thin and appears quite healthy. But he admits he rarely eats the fries.Originally posted by: vi_edit

Did anyone see Supersize Me? All he eats is McDonalds for 30 days. He asked for nutritional info at a bunch of stores and some couldn't find it, or it was downstairs or it was hidden behind some promotional display. I'm not so sure they really want you to find it.
I happened to look at the In n out website, and couldn't find any links to nutritional info, but using their search feature managed to find it . Suspicious?
If you didn't cook it, it's bad for you. It's as simple as that. Every restaurant has to compete with flavor more than with health. McDonald's may offer a 3 lb. salad with 100 calories and no fat, but if it tastes worse than Wendy's 800 calorie small salad, they're going to lose business. Don't go out to eat and expect to be eating healthy.
Oh FFS, most of my overweight coworkers would be better off getting a cheesburger and a side salad from McDonald's every day for lunch than eat the nutritionally void crap they bring for leftovers. At least with McD's they would be portion size limited.
You guys make it sound like I'm going to instantaneously become obese and have my vitals drop like a rock just for having a fast food burger.
I'll wager that my burger and fry eating ass is in better shape and I have better vitals than most of the snobs that thumb their nose at fast food.

Their breakfast sandwiches rock, especially their McGriddles, it's just the rest of their menu is awful. Wendys > Burger King (which NEVER serves food that isn't cold, no matter what branch I go to) > McDonals > Hardees. Hardees used to be #2, but 9 years ago they changed their mayonnaise to a new formuls/brand that causes me uncontrollable vomiting; aside from the vomiting sucking in general, I LOVED their mushroom melts before the whole mayo thing screwed things up.

The food is poison, in both taste and health. It is absolute garbage.
The food is no more unhealthy than the same food cooked at any other resturant (in fact, healthier than many sit down places). It is also no more unhealthy than the same foods the average person cooks at home.
Gotta be kidding me there. McDonalds' workforce is on the low end in terms of cleanliness, and who knows where that meat comes from. Are you telling me that the staff at, say, the Holiday Inn restaurants or any of the other sit-down restaurants have the same or lower standards?
Fast food is inherently full of trans fat to increase shelf life and sodium to increase preservation. At sit-down restaurants the food is prepared much more carefully, hence why it takes longer to arrive. Also, ingredients and side dishes are generally healthier. For example you may get a side of green beans or cole slaw, vs. a side of a fat-ridden salad or lard-intensive fries.
BTW, my stance is the same for ALL fast-food restaurants. I don't agree that Wendys or Arbys is significantly, if any amount, better than McDonalds. I do believe that sit-down restaurants make higher-quality food from better and more natural ingredients.
I can just feel something in my gut that makes me sick after eating at those places these days. It really is amazing, but I feel quite a bit different after eating at a fast-food restaurant vs. a full-blown one. Additionally, eating a Subway or Quiznos (much fresher ingredients) not only tastes better, but is healthier (depending on what you get), and typically less strain on your gut. I had an Arbys the other day with large fries and I don't think I'll ever eat there again if you want to know the truth.
I can order something like Salmon at most sit-down restaurants, which is usually considered healthy due to Omega-3 fatty acids. Can I order that at McDonalds? No, there is practically nothing exceptionally healthy at McDonalds. There are maybe a couple remotely healthy things. There is the grilled chicken sandwich but personally it doesn't taste nearly as good as the grilled chicken I've had at sit-down restaurants.

Okay, I know what you're all going to say, McDonalds serve the nastiest food under the heavens and you wouldn't stomach it for $10000.
But I think McDonalds is rather tasty, even delicious. Sure, the food is godly in how unhealthy it is, but let us just forget that for a second. Many of us can hardly rightfully claim that we eat healthy foods on a regular basis.
I personally love McDonalds. I hardly eat it, but that is not because I think the food is nasty. Heck, I prefer McDonalds over Inn 'n Out, to be honest. Taco Bell is pretty damn good too. So if McDonald's really is so disgusting, how is it so successful? All little kids love McDonalds. In my very honest opinion, McDonalds fries are extremely tasty.
Is the food served there REALLY disgusting? Or is it a 'fad' to hate on McDonalds simply because it is being different? And contrary to the other thread, most of the McDonalds that I have been too have been fairly clean and provide fast service. Much more so than the Carls Jrs around here. Of course, we have to keep things in perspective.... it IS a fast food chain. It is one thing to diss McDonald's because the food tastes bad, but it is another to diss them because it is unhealthy.
BTW. I don't have any affiliation with McDs besides the fact that I love an occasional double cheeseburger and small fries. I don't know anyone who owns/works at/operates/etc. at a McDonalds.
As a country we love cheap nasty processed bland fast consistent food. its the reason why cheez wiz, american cheese, budweiser, hostess, and all the other crap people eat is popular. Popularity doesn't equal quality. So if McDonald's really is so disgusting, how is it so successful?

Well I hate repeating myself but since this thread is so long I can only assume no one reads the first page.Originally posted by: Shadowknight
How about... unless you ask them to make a burger for you while you wait, they throw whatever's already been made which, *GASP* already has mayo on it. If I'm going to a fast food joint, I want my food as quickly as possible so I can chow down and jet.Originally posted by: shortylickens

You get what you pay for... I don't care about the fat or callories, the taste alone is rarely good. Meats been sitting there for god knows how long. Although the fries aren't too bad as long as their fresh.
