That's true to a certain extent. Raw Veggies are better for you than Cooked Veggies, Meat with no seasoning is better for yo9u than Meat with Seasoning but if you can't cook something that tastes better and is healthier than something you can get at a fast food joint then you don't know how to cook. Bottom line, you are better off health wise if you avoid fast food altogether.

I'm cool with Mcdonald's. I enjoy their fries, burgers, and nuggets. They also make the best damn Coke around.

They make Coke?

Yep, Coke doesn't ship out the final product to food places. They get the syrup and mix it with carbonated water. McDonald's does the best job of anyone.

Do you think that every McDonald's actually mixes the syrup the same way? My point is that it is not a McDonald's product - just something some guy is mixing together, and I doubt it is something held uniform across the franchise.

Actually pretty much all McDonalds uses the "bulk" Coke.
Its a big tank that holds about 85 gallons of Coke syrup that will take a week to emptied out.
Only the small McDonalds like inside Walmart that uses the small boxes.
And every so often a Coke technician will come out to calibrate to make sure it dispenses the correct syrup/carbonation.

it's probably more unhealthy to hate a bunch of stuff than it is to eat at McDonald's once every few months.

Well, since you are one for rational thought and supportive evidence, could you provide evidence that states it is corporate policy for McDonald's to display nutritional information on wrappers, walls, pamphlets, and tray liners?

Its TRUE.
All McDonalds tray liners have nutrition information on the back side.

That covers wrappers. Do you REALLY want me to find proof of the wall postings, liners and pamphlets? Or do you want to just give it up and admit you never noticed the info because you never bothered to look for it?

Here's a hint: McDonald's has required wall postings in all stores for 30 years now. And mandatory tray liners and pamphlets started in 2003. Any store not doing so is out of compliance.

Instead of arguing with me, why not rat your local store out to corporate if, in fact, they are not displaying the info?

I have never seen a wall poster nor pamphlets nor information on tray liners. I'll admit that, as I don't go to McDonald's often, I could have overlooked the new wrappers (though a news article hardly dictates corporate policy, or the extent they would go to punish an infraction of said policy), but not wall posters that have been there required for 30 years, or pamphlets and tray liners required for 4 years.
You are the one that always demands scientific or evidentiary support, so provide it. I'm interested to see if this is, in fact, corporate policy, not for the sake of arguing with you.

How about I was a general manager for McDoanlds for 3 yrs ??
All he said are ture.

Bahaha, I love it, "It's cool to hate McDonalds".

Oh and the fries suck. Anyone who thinks McDonalds fries are the best has never had good fries at all. Seriously. Good fries don't require 7 metric tons of salt.

fvck you, ronald mcdonald. i'll make my own...

you are a wrong on this.

the egg mcmuffin is made from a real egg. its made in cylinder on teh grill. how do i know? i worked in the grill for 2 years while in highschool/college.

I don't hate Mcdonalds or any other fast food. they are fine for what they are. A place ot grab a quick convienant meal. We eat fast food maybe twice a week while out doing errands.

is it healhty? nope. is it good? well depends on where and what. Wendy's spicy chicken is great. Arby's hot ham and cheese is great (but damn $2 for it? pfft).

i stand corrected  ty for the new info... i was told incorrect info by someone who's brother worked at mcdonald's.

either way, their food's still terrible.

actually it is very good IF fresh. when i worked i would make myself a sandwich and it was great. trouble is they don't make them fresh anymore. it sits in a warmer and get nasty.

a fresh off the grill burger with a freshly toasted bun. yumm

wish they would go back to makeign fresh burgers. ohwell.

i added an edit to my post...

"apparently, back then, they used real eggs... now, they use "egg product" which is made of real eggs, but isn't an actual real egg. it's just this cylinder of precooked, compartmentalized egg products that you nuke in the microwave... it's not a real egg that you crack over a grill anymore."

hmm they could have changed it. been like 10 years since i worked there.

sigh now i want a egg mcmuffin.

Yeah, they still crack them to make the sandwiches.

This stupid myth started because of the forms they use to cook the eggs.

go watch 'clerks 2'... they use the same egg product in that movie, according to my friend's brother.

Your friend's brother is wrong.

They crack an egg into a round form on the griddle and cook it. It hasn't changed once since they first invented the form and McMuffin in 1973.
i'll get to the bottom of this... tomorrow, after i get out of the gym, i'll go to mcdonald's and ask them if i can watch the egg of an egg mcmuffin get cooked...

i'll post my findings tomorrow.

Theres no need to get to the bottom of anything.
I will tell you anything you need to know.

The round eggs are real.
They crack them into round cylinders and break the yolks. Put the lid on them and pour water to get the steam effect to cook the eggs faster.

The scramble egss are being made with liquid eggs.

The folded eggs(used in bagels, Mcgriddles, biscuits) are now pre-maded into folded looking eggs. We use the steam effect to heat it up for usuage.
Just a year ago, folded eggs were made from the same liquid eggs used for scranbled eggs.

I'd say about 15 yrs ago, MCdonalds use REAL eggs for everything.

Its funny that this got to be the longest McDonalds thread ever.
And Amused has pretty much on cue with everything.

My first job ever was at McDonalds and some 15 yrs later, I ran a store for about 3 yrs so I've seen just about everything about McDonalds.
I can pretty much answer any qustion you have about McDonalds.

I don't care for heavily processed food, so I don't eat fast food much. People in my family are susceptible to type II Diabetes, so HFCS is something I avoid, while McD's does not.

Got a pack of McD's gift certificates sitting here in my desk. The paper ones. Never used 'em. Must be 5-6 years old now. Just like the pack of Dunkin' Donuts ones underneath them.

But I have a soft spot for Taco Bell I eat there a few times a year.

Ok No lie here.....Good story though....

McDonalds about 3 years ago was caught serving HORSE meat. Yes Horse meat. They were secretly buying horse meat from older horses that were slaughtered. This was a HUGE hush hush, settlement on there part of out court.....Beleive me....It cost them in the upwards of over 100 million to settle and make it not publically known. I am 100% serious.....believe what you want. But for those of you who do beleive me....remember the next time you wwant to eat there.....

Yep. And the liquid eggs are nothing but real eggs that are beat in bulk, and put into containers. This makes it easier so the cooks do not have to beat their own eggs... which is the most time consuming thing when making scrambled eggs. It also ensures consistency.

I love McDonalds and have for a very long time. I don't eat it often, because what I love to eat is too much food sometimes. I really love Big Macs and it's just too much food! I have to be really hungry to go there.

That and I am trying to eat healthier.

But I think McDonalds is rather tasty, even delicious. Sure, the food is godly in how unhealthy it is, but let us just forget that for a second. Many of us can hardly rightfully claim that we eat healthy foods on a regular basis.

I personally love McDonalds. I hardly eat it, but that is not because I think the food is nasty. Heck, I prefer McDonalds over Inn 'n Out, to be honest. Taco Bell is pretty damn good too. So if McDonald's really is so disgusting, how is it so successful? All little kids love McDonalds. In my very honest opinion, McDonalds fries are extremely tasty.

Is the food served there REALLY disgusting? Or is it a 'fad' to hate on McDonalds simply because it is being different? And contrary to the other thread, most of the McDonalds that I have been too have been fairly clean and provide fast service. Much more so than the Carls Jrs around here. Of course, we have to keep things in perspective.... it IS a fast food chain. It is one thing to diss McDonald's because the food tastes bad, but it is another to diss them because it is unhealthy.

BTW. I don't have any affiliation with McDs besides the fact that I love an occasional double cheeseburger and small fries. I don't know anyone who owns/works at/operates/etc. at a McDonalds.

Mcdonald's just tastes bad and makes you feel bad. They are getting better. I had one of their lean chicken sandwiches and I could see the chicken breast fibers, so it looked real at least and it tasted better.

If I'm going for cheap fast food, I much prefer Burger King (Junior Whoppers) or Taco Bell (1/2 burritos). Because they taste better for the same price.

As for unhealthy, yeah they aren't very healthy. But you'd find it more difficult to put on pounds if you simply didn't eat the fries and soda. As for non-obesity related health, yes it's pretty much empty food aside from some good protein and saturated fat and iron.

To be fair, Mcdonalds is very good in comparison with Krystal's/White Castle. That sh1t is overpriced, nasty, and you can feel it move through your digestive system.

Well, the thread is about McDonald's; no reason to expect he'd lump in the rest of the burger joints with it, even though they are all the same...

A lot of what is on there menu is, but to target Mcdonald's doesn't make sense because it's a tiny part of the problem.

Waking up to starchy cereal and fruit sugar extract (some call it fruit juice and call it healthy) is bad.

Eating pretzels, potato chips, and other processed grain snacks is another offender.

It's all over the place. A simple rule is that any carbohydrate that has high surface area and lacks fiber will likely spike insulin and keep it up. High insulin prevents fat loss, increases hunger, and encourages fat storage.

One of these carbs combined with fats is even worse because it spikes insulin even more and has the calorie density to create a glycogen surplus, which your liver converts to fat and sends it for storage. What kinds of foods are these? French fries, ice cream, potato chips, ie the staple diet of modern America. If you could ban Mcdonald's, people would be just as fat.

The question is why the unique and focused hate of McDonald's.

The comical thing about this are the people who will say exactly what he says, and then say they like BK, Hardy's/CJ or Wendy's.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have no idea why it's so popular. (I'm from Chandler too.) I would much rather have a McDonald's cheeseburger than an In N Out. Admittedly, I'm a clean eater and don't like messy sandwiches (ala Carl's Jr). I don't like lettuce and tomato falling out of the bun, with a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise dripping out. I like how simple the McD cheeseburger is, with cheese, pickles, and the chopped onions. Mmmmmm. Maybe I'll get one today!
