This is a bit off-topic, but does anyone else have a problem when someone says "He is just a good christian man" or "They are good christian people". My parents say it all the time and it pisses me off. As someone else said, there are good and bad people in every religion just as there are good/bad agnostics/athiests. One can follow his own set of morals and still be considered a good person without being a part of any religion.
I also don't see how someone who goes through his or her life doing everything they can to be helpful, caring, unselfish, etc could condemned to hell, but then again, who knows if it really exists or not. I grew up in a Baptist family, but have questioned religion/faith as a whole for a very long time, and I am only 17. Every now and then I stop and try to fathom what happens after we die. It boggles my mind...no one really knows, it could be anything.
Your question raises another in my mind: do you get offended when someone says "He is a good Muslim" or "He is a good Hindu"? (or any other religion for that matter) In your parents' minds, it is good to be a Christian just as in the minds of a Muslim it is good to be a Muslim.
I see nothing wrong with that.
Yes, I would, because a good person is a good person. No, in their mind, being christian makes you good or better than you were.
It's just someone else's opinion, though. If you get offended by other people's opinions then you'd better go hide in a cave somewhere because you're in for a long, tough life otherwise.
If someone thinks being a "good Christian" is something to live up to then who are you to say they're wrong?
Whether or not you accept the truth of G-d's word and the salvation of Yeshua, one has to admit that the principles of Christianity are something for most everyone to aspire to...

Ok, you just crossed over into the "bizzare" camp.
If you're going to follow the whole thing, he created computers, and therefor, ATOT.. perhaps specifically so we could be having this dicsussion right now.
Inanimate objects are not inheirently "holy", or "evil", that depends on who uses it.
Hmm..... Guess millions of Orthodox Jews around the world are "bizarre" as well, then?
Try saying what you just said to me to a Jew's face and see what reaction you get.
I didn't say the law about using the Lord's name in vain is "bizzare", I said that censoring it online because you think its in vain is bizzare. Or maybe you were censoring it because of the content of your sentences..
Regardless, if you think it even really matters, you've got another thing comming. You should probably care more about the sh!t comming out of your automobiles tail pipe.
Well, I'll just hold onto my opinion and you can keep yours, fair enough? However, I'll refrain from bashing yours
G-d says don't associate His name with anything which is not Holy so I try my hardest not to.
I don't see what's so "bizarre" about that.

If you believe that mentioning His Name is always the same as using it in vain, then you are still using it in vain whether you type God or G-d, Lord or L-rd, as the intent, which is to represent His Name, is still there. I hope you can grasp this very simple concept.
edit: I much prefer the honest and intelligent Islamic way of avoiding the blasphemy when saying His Name, which is to follow it with a praise saying, like "Peace be with Him" or "Praised be His Name".

How come in Christianity, they believe that if one is not Christian or if they do not follow Jesus... something along those lines... they will go to hell?
I'm in a World Religions class, and today, we had a Minister come in as a guest speaker. When he said this, I asked him,
"Well sir, I'm Hindu, and so is my entire family. Back in India, my grandparents live in a remote agricultural village where Christianity or any other relgion except Hinduism and maybe Islam, don't exist. My grandparents are the nicest people I have ever met. They both used to be elementary teachers, they've contributed much of their time and money to their community, and overall, they're very good people. So which leads to my question... are they going to hell because they don't even know Christianity is a religon?
His response: "I'm very sorry to say, but, yes, they will be going to hell"
My reaction: :disgust: ++ :Q + (A mix of those)

Concerning the thoughts of any man, whether he be "religious" or scholarly or what have you: G-d says to let no man deceive nor to let any man guide your beliefs. This is not to say that no one's opinion is valid, simply to take everything with a grain of salt.

You have your opinion, and I have mine.
Why are you so offended by my opinion of the word of G-d?
Does it threaten you in some manner?
I've explained why I do what I do, and I don't believe anything else is necessarry. I certainly don't have to justify my beliefs to you or any other man.
Someone asked a question, I chipped in my two cents. Since when has this become a crime?
You people are ready to crucify me because of my beliefs, and that's fine with me. "somebody kill this troll so he can go where he belongs... HELL!" Point proven.

And like he commanded Jim Jones to have his followers drink the Special Kool-Ade (tm)

And do not lump me in with the sayings of others. Much as I think you would like me to, I will say for the 2nd time that I have not crucified you or condemned you to hell, nor will I. If you had bothered to read any of my posts in this thread, you would find that such thinking and actions are contrary to my core beliefs.
I simply doubt your true faith, and sincerely question your actual knowledge of religion and Christianity and, as such, I dislike your pretending to represent Christians here on this board.
