I had some troubles with my ASUS A7V motherboard a long time ago. The K7 introduction was a tricky one at first, but Google landed me here to a thread that was started. I quickly became an active member as ASUS' forum/website was slow to respond.

I got pulled in to help try and sway members in the video forum that GeForceTony wasn't scamming XFX and infact just got a slew (4 in a row) of bad 6800GTs. I got accused of the same thing after I got 2 duds in a row.

I liked the community though, so I've stuck around since even though Tony hasn't.

Much the same. Also like an above poster I had an Asus A7V. Funny how that works.

I was putting together my A7V, first computer I built, and after getting bored of Tom's Hardware I was checking out other computer hardware sites, anandtech was just one of many. Later Tom's Hardware went downhill bigtime, or maybe I just recognized it for what it was all along, but I never go there anymore.

Back in the day (maybe '99 or so) when I used to use Kali, an online gaming program, I was referred here, Sharky Extreme, and Tom's Hardware. This site was the only one with a decent forum and it had the best reviews so I stayed here.

My friend referred me here when the site was first launched... After numerous ownages of drugstore.com and buy.com, I was hooked. I still remember the day that the mods created the Hot Deals forum, because "General Discussion" was getting flooded with deal threads lol

I had a friend, who back in the 486 days, was telling me how you could overclock computers. About that time, I had just built a new rig, with a Celeron 300a. He referred me to Anand's site, since he practially worshipped Anand. I learned how to overclock here, and have stuck around ever since.
I've made a lot of friends here over the years, and probably a few enemies too.

Wow, Sharky Extreme! Sheesh, I had forgotten all about that site. I still keep tabs with some of the writers for the site.

I would definitely go back to the year 2000 if I ever get the chance in a time machine.
