How did you land at Anandtech?

Friend referred me here for hot deals... and back then, "hot deal" meant HOT deal, not "whoa, they lowered the price from $118 to $117."
Back then, they'd pay you to take things from the store

I can't remember how I found AT ... but my preferred search engine at the time was Infoseek & Google didn't exist yet.

I was looking for information on PC100 SDRAM to build my first PC & stumbled across Anand's PC100 RAM shootout... purchased the winner (Mushkin GL Cip if I recall correctly) and bookmarked the site... also joined the forums pre-Fusetalk but never posted & forgot my password for awhile so my account got reset by the mods in 2003.

Started off with a friend intruducing this website to me when I was seeking my first Voodoo 5 5500 AGP purchase.
Told me that I could get to the "sale/trade" page and enquire for its price.. there will be someone willing to sell. Was like.. why not, after all no ebay fees involved and I might get it cheaper.

I used to read Toms hardware a whole bunch because it was all I knew. Then someone recommended Anandtech and I saw the light. I hardly check Toms anymore, its pathetic compared to Anandtech, plus it lacks ATOT

I came looking for a Hot Deal on a hard drive... Got 2 80 gig drives for $50 a piece. about 6 months later I started actually posting on the forums... mainly in general Hardware helping people... now I just nef here in OT.

Well, I came into a couple thousand computer fans that I needed to get rid of. Back in the day when dealers were allowed on the fs/ft forum it was by far the best place to bring such items, and in doing so found the best all around forum community on the web. Though I had been lurking around on occasion before that.

Hardforum was down for that forum upgrade in 2004. Started hanging out here a lot more because of it. Once it came back up I went back over there.

That place is so full of idiots nowadays though, I find myself hanging out at bimmerforums mostly... The OT threads here are good reads though.

I wanted to learn how to overclock my AMD K6. Toms Hardware Guide had an overclocking guide, but I liked Anand's reviews a lot better.
Then It all went downhill when I started posting on the forums

Check out those specs on that PC... LOL... 128MB Ram. I thought I was the shiznits back then. I'm at 2GB of ram now, I wonder what I'm gonna have in another 5 years.

I was interested in technical stuff, computer related. As such, I've used several internet sites (Tom's Hardware mostly), then I've found Anandtech. For a while, Tom's had more content, but Anandtech was better in all other respects.
That was in the 2000 sometime (I think) - I remember the Pentium 3 at 1GHz fiasco, the articles about the Slot A Athlon, the Celeron 300A overclocking, and so on.
How did I found Anandtech? Some search engine (certainly not Google)
