How did your parents punish you as a child?

I got the belt, and I deserved it every single time. I'm not bitter about it at all, I did some bad stuff and got punished, I didn't do it again. Not the type of punishment that every kid should endure, but when it works, go with it.

I normally would get yelled at a lot... you kind develop selective hearing after a while...
rarely i got slapped...
Now in elementary school i got the stick (bamboo) it really hurts... I only had two teachers that did that though...

My mom used to pinch me which is really bad, also parent's disappointment was a strong deterrent for me.

My mom would just yell like a maniac and go crazy while my dad tried to calm her down and give me a minor ass kicking (kicking me in the ass with his foot) to make my mom feel happy. The worst thing I ever did was pee in a bush at a park cause I couldn't find a bathroom and my mom freaked out while my dad just said "boys will be boys".

Now with my younger brother my mom's got the kitchen spatula taped to her side.

No physical punishments. Not even once. If you behaved badly, you would just be denied something you wanted to do (e.g. go camping, playing at a friend's home) or something was taken away.

Right now my brother has no Internet access to his PC since my father cut the UTP cable. He won't get his connection back until he gets good grades again for school

Physical abuse by belts, hickory sticks, anything they could get their hands on.
Mom had me wash out my mouth with soap once.
Was grounded a few times.
No TV or atari.
No motorcyle, gocart, or bike riding.
Just about anything you can think of.

I think I'm a better person for it and deserved most all the punishment I got.

When I was 8 and younger, they spanked me. I got sent to my room, no TV, no friends, etc. I was grounded once I think, and that was just basically 3 whole days (my 3 day Memorial Weekend) of outside chores
Now it's no computer, no radio, no TV, no physical punishment though.. Never got it with a belt though. Thank god for me I guess.

First of all I would like to make the following disclaimers:

I was not a bad child I was actually the best of the four my Mother will even agree.

Whatever happened to me as a child is over and done with I do not have any bad feelings toward my Mother or Father. I love them both.



My Mother raised 4 children by herself I was the oldest. She was bi-polar and had a lot of problems. She pretty much beat me with anything she could get her hands on most of the time it was the wire part of the fly-swatter. She left buises and welts and I got several bloody noses. Most of the time it was for something like, I wasn't able to find the certain hair clips she wanted to put in my sister's hair. This is no joke, I seriously got beat for that once. Like I said she had a lot of problems. She is nothing like that now. She has so much patience with my daughter she is a good grandma. She won't even spank my daughter, she barely scolds her.

still love my parents tho...totally disciplined my ass...duno if i'd go about the same way when i have kids tho...

some of my friends got the wooden side of the feather duster...*OUCH*...

and i duno if anyone else experienced this, but i felt that no matter how much i ran away from my parents when i was in trouble, they always got me...LOL....and if they didn't catch me while i was running away, they throw the slipper at me with 100% hit rate...wassup with that deadly accurate aim?...as if it were a heat seeking slipper or something....too bad i didn't know about strafing back then...LOL...

Whipped with whatever was in reach
Threatened to be whipped by the razor strap my Dad used to have, I was scared to death of that thing.

One time my Mom was whipping me good with a belt, and the buckle flew off and left a huge welt on my back, she felt really bad and I think I was only belt whipped by my Dad after that

My friends that I caused trouble with used to get whipped with Hot Wheels track, they said that hurt really, really bad.

As many others in here have said, my parents did the best they could, and I DESERVED everything I got. I harbor no animosity towards my parents, and have an excellent relationship with them.

IMHO the downfall of modern generations started when whipping kid's butts was labeled "child beating." Now I know the difference between a spanking and child beating, and spanking is an excellent form of punishment as well as deterrent, and should be practiced more.

I was generally good, although we are all bad at some time. When I was really young, i used to get a smack, but then it was just my mum shouting at me. Boy, when she got going you made sure you were good, she would really put the fear of god in you.
