I'm looking to go to college and was wondering how tough it was.
Are the term papers the most difficult thing?
Is just showing up the toughest?
Is homework and studying the hardest part?
All information appreciated.

Disciplining yourself because you don't have parents telling you what to do in college. You make your own decisions. You play you pay or something like that.

Depends what major you choose. Some majors end up having wretched term papers, while others have more hard tests. It all depends, in my opinion at least.

Overkill, homeworks always depend on your major. If you are an engineering major, then ouch.

I'm an Industrial Design major and it hella takes a lot of my free time to finish like three huge projects weekly!

Speaking of class attendance? Class attendance doesn't hurt if a class meets three or four times a week. If a class meets once a week and you miss three, that'll hurt your class participation. I attend my classes almost perfect.

depends on your major, if your business/criminology, then nothing is hard, and you'll breeze through it

ps: I lived with a person in each major for 2 years, and they never studied at all, both graduated, and have jobs, they had it easy

College is relatively easy. Just keep up with work and you'll get good grades. I think the toughest thing is to not fall behind, but everyone falls behind and crams at the last minute.

in today's day and age, you shouldn't be "looking to go to college." you either go to college or you're probably in big trouble in the job market in the future when they determine that you're lacking in a college degree. i sure as heck hope that the responses on this thread are not your motivating factors to go or not to go.

1. if you have term papers, they suck, but they aren't that frequent, especially if you choose a major that isn't heavily based on term papers (e.g. computer science).

2. if you like to sleep and are hungover a lot, then showing up would be hard, yes.

3. homework and studying can suck, and in some schools, you'll see that most students have no lives around the time of exams. a lot of folks get together and do their homework together (especially if you're in a dorm situation), but that may not help you learn the material, so be careful with how you choose to approach your studies. i didn't like homework because it took a lot of free time out of my evenings and often contributed to all-nighters.

also, some exams are not reflective of what you've learned in class or what your homework covered. you may be in for a big surprise.

If you go to engineering or some of the more serious science majors, yeah, its tough. But you kinda get used to it. The other stuff is a joke.

the hardest part is showing up and paying attention. Been in university for 3 years now and I still can't get make it to more than 8-10hrs/week (I usually have about 25 scheduled). When I do make it, I usually don't pay attention. Most days are spent playing foosball and hanging out, perhaps roaming downtown...

And despite what others may tell you, three weeks of studying hard CAN make up for 3 months of missed classes. I know, I've done it enough times
