I am someone who knows the truth about guns, someone who knows if we banned all guns and seized all guns crime would drop by more than 50% in less than 5 years. Poverty would decline, and people's overall lives would improve.

At the risk of getting a reasonable discussion..
What would make someone buy the gun in the second picture over the one in the first?

Would you say that the second gun would come from a different gun culture than the first?Likely made of a composite material and not wood, making it lighter and easier to handle. Also, allows for more attachments, like different optics, etc. And while all of those would make it easier to kill someone, any use you'd have for a wooden SKS would be done more efficiently with the second.
So you bought the axe as a fashion thing or a fetish thing rather than a tool? They like the look, or perhaps they're preppers. I just bought an axe I have almost no use for just cause I liked it. I personally like vintage/historic weapons, but there's no reason the inverse can't be true for others.

Same culture, different period. Think about it like a car, some like vintage, others like modern cutting edge machines. How often does a sports car see a race track?

I still prefer wood stocks myself.
But that is me I guess.
Ya, why not buy both.At the risk of getting a reasonable discussion..

I think the point is that that they are essentially the same gun. The difference is primarily in outsiders' reaction to it.At the risk of getting a reasonable discussion..

Just wanna make sure you realize this as well.Would you say that the second gun would come from a different gun culture than the first? They like the look, or perhaps they're preppers. Well said, but you are arguing with someone who looks to North Korea as an ideal society. I'm not saying he can't find an occasional acorn, I'm just saying the blind pig is waaaay ahead.Poverty would decline? WTF?
Even if you got a complete ban pushed through, there is no possible way to seize all guns in America without starting a civil war, which you would lose.
I agree that the world would be better if we could snap our fingers and magically end all violence, but that shit ain't real. So long as evil exists in the hearts of some men I'm not going to lay down my guns.
You remind me of one of the folks who say "violence is NEVER the answer." Well, regrettably, sometimes it is the only answer when the shit hits the fan. People who live in the relative safety provided by others who stand guard for them will never understand this.
Not to mention it's hard to hunt ducks with just your finger, no mater how loud you yell *bang*.
Well . . . personally I don't think twice about catching a glimpse of a concealed pistol, but I keep my distance from the guy carrying an axe. They like the look, or perhaps they're preppers.
