If you're a convict felon it's illegal to even possess a firearm - of any kind. A few states let the prohibition expire after a certain time, but that's rare. You can still buy a gun from a private seller (who has no means to run a background check) but if you get caught you're looking at 10-20 years in prison.

Nope, not for me. Everything I have are legal and legit from federal licensed dealers. No need to use any loophole.

There is no "loophole." Dealers who sale at gun shows do background checks, private sales at guns shows are conducted like private sales everywhere. There have been several attempts to open the NICS system so that private sellers can also do background checks, but interestingly they were shot down by gun control proponents.

These are dangerous times and I want to protect my family.

Depending on the State, you don't have to register a gun. I have bought and sold several just exchanging cash. It is perfectly legal in TN.

In Ohio, simply go to one of the half dozen gun shows going on every weekend and buy from a non-dealer.
Hell, I see guns for same all the time on Facebook classifieds.
gunlistings.org is also a free classified for guns.

If you haven't been convicted of a felony, you can probably still own guns.
It depends on your state.

No. They bought ammo at K-Mart... ammo that has a hundred legitimate uses including sport, target practice, hunting, competition, animal euthanasia, defense, etc.

Then he tried to pretend that K-Mart was hiding something because the a-hole showed up at their corporate HQ and expected to walk right in to the CEO's office with cameras.

Screw that guy. I think we've figured it out: He's definitely the reason you think anyone can walk right into a department store to buy guns (most don't even carry them) and he's probably the reason you think the States are so much more dangerous than Canada. The same movie had his little "people don't lock their doors in Canada!" stunt. I don't lock my doors when I'm home and I'm pretty far away from Canada.

I've bought a lot of guns from private sellers and sold a few that way too. I ask for their drivers license and carry permit. If they aren't willing to do show those 2 things there won't be a deal.
