No you cant. Contrary to what the anti gun nutters would like you to believe. Try to purchase a handgun from any store and there is automatically a background check run somewhere in the process. In Michigan where I live if you plan on purchasing a handgun from any store that sells them pencil in at least 2 hours to complete the process. I already have a cpl so I get to skip the purchase permit process. Takes even longer if you don't have a cpl.

No they did not. All of their guns were purchased illegally through third party straw purchases. Not one of those weapons was sold by a licensed dealer to them or even to those who sold them to them.

There is no "loophole." Dealers who sale at gun shows do background checks, private sales at guns shows are conducted like private sales everywhere. There have been several attempts to open the NICS system so that private sellers can also do background checks, but interestingly they were shot down by gun control proponents.

It's amazing how people from other countries have such strong opinions about gun control laws in the US but then have absolutely no idea what existing laws are.

I have one felony firearms violation-some frat boys were coming after me when they crossed the street I fired three shots in the air. My record have been expunged except for the arrest which I am told will always be on my record.
These are dangerous times and I want to protect my family.
If I go to a store to buy a gun will I automatically be turned down because of it?

When Obama took power and before it was like $130 bucks for a months supply two years into his take over it became 600$ a month and now it is $1600 a month.
When he said you can keep your present health insurance (mine didn't cover Rx so that part didn't matter much) I got a letter a few weeks later telling me I was not covered anymore.
I need it to control my illness- I have schizophrenia and all the other drugs don't work and the new ones are outright dangerous.
I have no insurance now- I lost it when Obamacare was passed I used to be on the high risk pool.
I guess my only option is to import from Canada- I have done that a few times and it cost around 250$ a month. It still costs around there so why did it increase so much?
I cannot do without my medicine. I am allergic to Haldol.
The pharmacy did not get it wrong I checked the prices with several different pharmacies and the price is correct.

purchasing a gun varies by state, but if you by a gun from a dealer, like a gun shop or walmart, you have to go through a background check. some states require some sort of id card before you can purchase, some states have waiting periods before you can get the gun.

if you go to a gun show or buy a gun online from a dealer, you still have to go through a background check and are subject to whatever state laws are involved.

If you go to a gun show or find someone advertising a gun for sale online that is not a dealer, sometimes you can buy the gun without a background check. This varies by state.

For instance, in PA, ALL handgun sales MUST go through a FFL holder (gun shop, gun dealer, etc). Rifles can be sold face to face without background check between 2 non-ffl holders.

He's apparently "bat-shit crazy" and is one of the last people who should be allowed access to a firearm. (not to mention his felony charges involving firearms...which SHOULD be an automatic disqualification from legally owning any kind of firearm.

Hell, I have a pretty lengthy felony record...but NO convictions for assault, shooting at anyone, or any other type of violent crime...and I'm permanently banned from owning firearms. doesn't seem fair to me...I did my time...now give me guns!

Another troubling trend is that many newscasters don't have the knowledge base to accurately report what happens, I can't count how many times I've heard "automatic weapons were used" when it was semi auto weapons, newscasters and writers used to be veterans whe were trained to use a gun and knew the difference, now we have hot newscasters and clueless writers building up the hype.

Where do you live? Africa? Even when I lived in Bangkok, Thailand I felt totally safe. This is what happens when people watch the news. How else can you explain why people feel unsafe when they actually live in a 1st world environment.

It's because the news stations focus on events that will actually draw viewers. Take my dad and brother for example. They watch Fox and CNN daily and for hours. Of course, they have a nihilistic view of the world. I'm the opposite. I try to avoid the news as much as possible. I might spend 5 minutes on CNN but that's it.
