How do I build a life again?

I'm a 31 year old married black guy with no social life. My best friends are books, music and the occasional movie. Every since I've decided that religion was nothing more than a farce I've been basically on my own, all of my friends avoid me, my family thinks I've made a bad choice and even my wife has been distant towards me. But yet I refuse to pretend to believe in something that I don't think has any factual merit.

So I'm sitting here slightly drunk and listening to the White Stripes wishing that I had a friend I could talk to. Wishing that my life was'nt such a mess, wishing that I had a new set of friends and a spouse who had the same interests that I do.


So how's your weekend?

As for Arkitech, I would recommend getting out into some community activities - join a local adult sports league (soccer, baseball, etc.).

For starters, whats god?

Anyone who can show me scientific evidence of a greater being, go ahead, then I will admit im wrong when i say there isnt one.

Second of all, you say you wish you had a friend to talk to. Isnt that partly the reason you are posting on ATOT? Everyone here on AT are friends (WIth exceptions) in my eyes, AT is one of the best communitys ive ever been part of, and im thankful for it too.

The situation with your wife, you say shes avoiding you? Perhaps you should sit down and re-think your relationship, dont stay stuck in a marriage or relationship you dont want to be in. EIther repair what you have or move on, get a new job, start a new life, move away from your current area if you can, but thats only a last resort if you cant repair what you have, or really dont want to.

You could always start by blaming your isolation on the white man...

Personally, I found that meeting a whole bunch of new people can be very stimulating, and time consuming.

New job, new hobby, etc. can do wonders to one's mental stability.

edit: if you chose the service industry, stay away from the hostesses! they are all under 18...
