I'v aquired a Gainward GeForce 7800GT 512MB,1,4ns DDR3 ,PCI-Express, "BP7800GT-512-GS-GLH-DD" which won't let it self get connected...
First I just inserted it and forgot about the extra-voltage-connector. When starting my computer without that one it was going fine until the XP-startscreen should appear. Then the screen turned BLACK and NumLock died.
I then found out about the cable and restarted my computer with thatcable inserted... Same result... When my computer is to switch to VGA-mode to show the XP-startscreen the computer dies and only shows a BLACK screen
My cable that goes to the GFX-card lookslike this --< And thus has one contact for the GFX-card and two 12V contacts in the other end.
Am I supposed to connect 12V to BOTH of those contacts from my powersupply???
I don't dare to try since I'm afraid I'll burn my shiny new GFX-card...
What should I do?
I know I should run 400W at least and I'm only running 350W, but shouldn't it work with all but one HDD connected and the GFX-card?
Will try an external 400W powersupply tomorrow and see if that works, but I don't know if I'm aproaching this problem from the correct angle?
Please help me with tips anyone!!!
My system:
MSI K8N Platinum SLI
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1GB dual channel RAM (2x512)
350W Powersupply (Arctic Cooling T1)
3 regular IDE HDD's (Not connected when trying the GFX-card)
1 SATA2 disk (Connected)
