How do I find my @home domain name? And @home email w/ SMC7004BR!

Today I got cable internet service, and I already had the SMC 4-port Barricade router hooked up. So all the technician had to do was enter the "Host Name"...like C123456-A, and the Domain Name...like xxx.yyy.home.com. Unfortunately, the tech didn't know the Domain Name, and it isn't printed on the workorder/info sheet. So all I need is my Domain Name in the form of xxx.yyy.home.com, or just the IP. Can anybody help me find it?

Thanks,
Brian

Find out your IP and do an nslookup from a command prompt window, while connected to the 'Net.

RC5Bri,

Drop me an eMail right now, and I'll tell you what your IP address is.

Or, you might be able to get it by going to a command prompt and running netstat -r

I just did that(nslookup), and I found the Domain Suffix, but I am still unable to receive my email with @home. I tried netstat -r, but it didn't show any info. Russ, I already know my IP, the router shows it, and I verified it at grc.com.

I have Outlook set to the POP3 server "mail", but it can't find it. The host name is correctly set in the router, but I am not sure if the Domain Suffix is the proper one.

Has anyone else been successful setting up email with @home using the SMC router?

This is an issue with any router and @Home. The answer is yes, there is a way to set it up, and I "think" it has to do with using the specific mail server that you're assigned.

There are some threads around here outlining the solution.

Rc5Bri,

What you need to type in as the mail server is mail.domain.com (if you PM me with your IP, I will let you know what the domain name is, just use nslookup IP_ADDRR to get the FQDN for the IP. the extension after your client ID is what is known as the headend. mail.headend is the name of the server to use. Alternatively, you can also add headend to the domain search order in DNS serttings, both will serve the same purpose.

Ender78's suggestion worked properly! I setup mail.server.home.com as the POP3 and SMTP server in Outlook, and it worked perfectly!

Thanks everybody who helped!!!!

hehe...at&t broadband techie here..=)...well first off for your e-mail depending on where you are in the nation it will be something like this mail.?????.??.home.com the ????? is for your city and the ?? is the state you live in..now that server address works for both your incomming and out going mail..just read your prev post.that's great you got it working but you should still set it up the proper way or leave it....
