So, a buddy of mine is offering to me his old laptop HDD that has Mandrake Linux installed. I want to format the drive and install Win2K. Can I use the regular Windows boot floppy? Any help would be appreciated.
You could use a Linux boot disk & run the dd command to rewrite the boot sector. But an easy way is to boot a DOS boot disk & run fdisk /mbr to wipe the boot sector then fdisk & format as usual.
Geez I formatted a Mandrake 9.0 install with my WinXP disc. Oddly enough I couldnt format the drive with a mandrake 8.2 disc or read the HD at all with the 8.2 disc.
