How do I get a DNS name to resolve to an IP?

Say for example, I wanted to find out the actual IP for Microsoft.com; is there a proggy that does this?

Just do "nslookup www.name.com" from a command prompt. (I assume you're in Windows)

No problem. I think it stands for "name service" but I'm not 100% sure.

There are quite a bit of different types. Here's a couple of common ones, off the top of my head.
A (Alias)
CNAME (Canonical Name)
MX (Mail Exchanger)
NS (Name Server)
PTR (Pointer)
SOA (Start of Authority)
SRV (Server)
