How do I get a new customer deal with FIOS?

I'm month to month now but would not mind signing a 2 year contract for a better deal. I'm never NOT going to use fios if its available.

Do I have to like... switch to comcast for a month.. then switch back?

Actually what if I canceled my service and then had my GF start an account? Its completely under my name now. Would she count as a 'new' customer even if its the same residence?

We did the alternate names thing with Fios for years. Honestly its the easiest most effective way. I was lucky last time I called in to cancel they first offered and insulting $8 for 12 months then I said no I'll still cancel new subscriber discount is better then I magically got that promo plus a few useless movie channels.
Again its easier to set up new service under a different name and cancel the old

You will not get new customer pricing since you are not a new customer. To be honest, your willingness to scam the system is disappointing.

But retention will help you.

i need to call in and see if i can rework a deal. my 18-month deal period just expired for a 24-mo contract, and i want to try and get my prices back down. it went from $144 to $181. that is a pretty damn significant jump.

anyone have any advice on how to go about doing this, if possible at all? can i just call in and bitch about it and that will work? or are there more tricks to it?

(if it's possible at all)

Haha... its an on going war between these companies and subscribers -- I will take advantage of everything I can.

Plus... is it REALLY a scam if I'm agreeing to lock myself into 2 years of paying them $100+ dollars in exchange for a gift card and what, a $5 discount?

Haha scam, don't hate the player hate the game. New customer promo's should not be around $400 dollars cheaper per year than someone who has been paying. Wireless carriers used to do the same thing and eventually they learned that competition will eat them alive if they keep churning their customer base. Broadband has not gotten to the competition phase yet.

Believe me...I understand. I just get disappointed when people are so willing to scam.

Retention will help you. Get a quote from whatever cable co is in your area and have that ready. If you have real information and not just "you guys suck, you're a monopoly, you are a scam", then they will be more than willing to help. Hell, its their job.

The best deals come from the door to door guys so if they do stop by listen to what they are offering. I had one stop by and he saved me $60 a month for the same service. I will go back and forth between comcast and fios every 2 years.

those guys (DSRs) are the scum of the earth. They will lie, cheat and steal to get a customer. And they almost always lie, cheat and steal from customers. NEVER deal with a DSR. The risk is not worth the reward.
