How do I get rid of McAfee files that remain after program was uninstalled?

I had the paid version of McAfee. I uninstalled it using Revo Uninstaller, which triggered the McAfee built in uninstaller which is what I used. I used Revo delete residual files but there are still several McAfee files that won't go away.

I would probably install it again and try uninstalling once again. McAfee also has their own removal tool.

This'll do ya, and might take one hour start to finish, plus whatever additional time to run your disc image backup. I assume you have Windows.

1) Suggest you download the free Antivirus Removal Tool 2020.10 (v.1) available here (scroll way down the page for the download link).

I bet you'll be surprised to find that most remnants of your old uninstalled antivirus are lurking in easy to find hiding places like your C:\Users\username\AppData or C:\ProgramData.

After After After you do the above (After), then download the free version of Revo Uninstaller, either the install exe or the portable zip, makes no difference which. Why= it gives you a free really powerful cleanup to scour out last traces of your old antivirus off your computer. When you run it, click TOOLS at the top and then Junk file cleaner on the left. It takes several minutes, say maybe 5-10 minutes. When scan completes, then in the top ribbon menu click delete all found.

If it were me, then I'd run regedit.exe. When it displays the tree view you'll click the top level (Computer), and then on the top (ribbon) menu click Edit, and then select Find, and search for the AV name. When you do that, use as short of a version as you can, as a sort of fuzzy logic so it'll hit any variations of the av name that might be in the registry. Search the entire registry, which might take you 15 minutes or so if you do only one pass through it. Every time it finds a hit it'll stop for your action. Hit Delete every time it finds a hit, if you can delete it...some registry keys won't be deletable, so just skip those and continue to Find Next.

After all that, then run your preferred cleaner, say maybe the free CleanMgr+, or whatever you like to use, like maybe Revo Uninstaller Tools Junk file cleaner again, or if you really must do it because you're clinging to the past, then go ahead and run the sadly once good but now turned to the dark side and prtetty much ruined CCleaner, it's Registery Clean. Then run as Administrator your native Windows Disc Cleanup, then run your preferred defrag tool, like maybe Defraggler or Contig plus the PowerDefrag GUI, or the native Windows defrag. Then run a fresh disk image backup.
