My health insurance doesn't kick in till the 1st...and I fell on my face skiing yesterday and I've got a headache today. What can I do to check my self out?

Hell, my neurosurgeon doesn't charge that much for an office visit.

You should consider moving some place where health care is a right not a privilege

But otherwise a concussion will usually give you headaches if you look at a PC screen or TV. At least i was told not to look at a PC screen when i stacked my bike a few years back.

Office visits don't cost that much, though they are prohibitively expensive without insurance, I agree. Can you go to a cheap local clinic? Around here we have a clinic called ZoomCare that charges a flat rate of $100 for an office visit for uninsured people, and while that's kind of a bitch, it's certainly better than walking around with a concussion. I was uninsured earlier this year and I sliced my hand open on a fusebox; they were able to stitch me up cheap compared to an emergency room.

If I can wait 3 days..I'd rather do that. My insurance doesn't start till 1/1/12...thats why im trying to determine if its something I can wait on...or do it right now

There's no point in going to the doctor for a concussion. Even if they give you every test under the sun they aren't going to give you any treatment unless you have bleeding in your brain or something incredibly unusual like that.

Just take it easy and rest for a few days.

If you're going to wait a few days anyway, why not just set up an appointment with a doctor rather than going through the ER? Your insurance will have kicked in by then and you won't have to deal with the ER, which, let's face it, is a shitty place to get care. Not that the level of care is poor, but it takes 3 years to get seen, and you're not going to be a high priority with a 3 day old injury.
