Why? This isn't for myself. It's for my MOMMY..

I mean... does it take a book to know about Rabbits before buying? You've got to be kidding..... it should not take more than 3 minutes to read up about it. You must be new to pets. ^_^

Rabbits aren't low maintenance pets. They behave somewhere between a dog and a cat as well, but are prey animals. And don't pick them up by the ears.

You always make worthless comments on any threads. I've been watching you for the past year or so. Your comments are always very short, like "Cheez is bad", "Sounds like crap", "both", "Sucks", "You are bad". I guess English isn't your primary language in that case it's understandable...^_^

I have a rabbit, and I'm going to tell you if your mom isn't willing to put in a LOT OF WORK and doesn't possess A LOT OF PATIENCE, you don't want a young, adolescent rabbit. Once they hit their teenage phase, they will destroy your place and you'll be wondering why the hell you got one, if it's going to be an inside house rabbit.

Adopt an adult. They'll be fixed and they make much better pets when they are fixed. They're not hard to litter box train, but rabbits chew, and they can eat your carpet, base board, furniture legs, and most dangerously, your electrical cords which could kill them or start a house fire.

There's a ton of info here for caring for pet rabbits: http://rabbit.org/
My Mom isn't aware of all this. And she definitely doesn't want her expensive furniture get damaged. I will try to find an adult Rabbit then.. Is female better or male? which one cause less trouble?

thanks!

I thought they are supposed to be handled by grabbing their ears to lift. No? How do you grab them then? same way you do with cats and dogs?

Do rabbits bite a lot? like your hand? My Mom doesn't need to get bitten.... that's a huge no-no.

thanks

I have a female, but from what I've read a male is less likely to be trouble and more likely to good with just sitting and being petted. Females, even after being fixed, can have fake pregnancies and try to nest in certain areas of a house, which will they will be aggressive in defending or being shushed out of.

Furniture can be covered to protect it... I've heard of people using Bitter Apple, which you spray in their mouth or on the thing they're chewing to train them to stop. Electrical cables can be covered in aquarium tubing or tucked out of the way.

I pick my rabbit up by putting one hand behind her two front legs on her ribs and my other hand under her back feet. Rabbits can kick when they panic and break their backs, and not all rabbits like being picked up, if at all. Mine doesn't.

For what it's worth a rabbit is the only animal I have had to give back. They are a lot of work. Way more than expected. I was a kid though. Either way lots of work.

Obvious solution is obvious: Have your mother care for your cat. Kill two birds with one stone. (That's a figure of speech, by the way. Please don't throw stones at birds.)

Infinite fun for your cat:

The ball will last a good long time and the hamster is replaceable when it wears out. Both are pretty cheap, too. Have fun.

My cat is in my house. My Mom has her own home. She and my Dad currently own two dogs. She doesn't like dogs. She wants a rabbit now.

If it's so much work with the rabbits then I think I will just forget about getting one....

I need to get something for my pussy cat! She is lonely. Only thing she can do is look out the window and watch birds flyby and rabbits running around the lawn.

And infinite terror for the hamster.
The hamster won't even know what's going on outside the ball, their eyesight isn't very good. I don't think they are smart enough to feel terror anyway. Ever seen them run on those wheels? They run so fast and trip and spin around like a front loading washing machine. Fall out the side and just keep going like nothing happened.

I was thinking about that. Putting a hamster in the ball and let him running around. Cats would love that. But I can't leave hamster in the ball all day. He will get tired and will get hungry. Having hamsters in the cage is a good idea.

Trust me, they are. I was trying to give you an idea of what they're like. Plus it's hard to have rabbits around dogs, especially terriers.

You can throw some food in there with it and it's not like the cat can play for 8 hours straight, it will have plenty of time to sleep.

I would look at a rabbit as a fertilizer machine and definitely an outside pet. I would not let one live in my house unless you have a big cage. They make a lot of manure. You put 2 rabbits together and guess what you get? Lots more Rabbits.

I am professional, not a troll... Like I said, I am an entertainer like a Gladiator... I can control trolls like you left and right while I laugh at them.

You seem way too bothered with my thread. If you don't like it, you can check other threads but I tell you... they get boring after a while.

What about water? Hamster needs water soon. I don't think it's good idea have him running around without water for 10 hours.

There were bunch of baby rabbits in a next out in the lawn whose mother had setup. While the mother went out for groceries I kidnapped all those babies and put them in a little aquarium cage in my garage. Yes these are wild animals. These were so cute! I pat them. ^_^ I placed bunch of carrots with leaves. I came to check the babies in just a few minutes and all those carrots were gone. They ate all. I said DAMYYNNNNNNNNNNnnnn these are monsters!

They grew up fast. About a week later they all jumped out of my aquarium cage and ran away. I tried to catch them but they were too fast. I had the garage opened at the time. I lost all of them.

So I have some experience with the wild rabbits.

That sounds like a business opportunity. We could design a new ball with 2 layers of plastic that can hold water in the wall and a nozzle facing inward that the hamster can drink from when the cat isn't playing with it. $1M idea right there.

I just read some of the other threads you've made during your time here at AT. Multiple thread lock-ups and tons of accusations about trolling in other sub forums. At the best you're a lunatic.

I'm sick of trolls and the BS. I'm slowly learning over time who's a troll/idiot in these forums and what threads to not even enter.

So you are new then. I have a lot of folks here that know me, and as a matter of fact they even introduced me to Patrick so we can get along like close friends. I am not lunatic. I am an "artist". I think outside the box, explore new things that most folks don't know of. I don't know what is found so trolling in this thread topic. My Mom wants a rabbit so I posted here for ideas. I also posted a hamster idea for my cat because she is lonely. These are honest questions and honest post. I don't see how these are trolling. Maybe you need to stop being so negative person. Look at yourself in the mirror. It's all angry face. I am happy and smiling.

That's a great idea! Please count me in! I would love to see someone to invent it and put it out on amazon or ebay or something.... That's like a mobile home for the hamster(s)! It's great because they do all the exercise right there. Would be the biggest gift for my cat as she will be pushing the ball around all over the place. The hamsters will get dizzy.

OP, do your mom a favor and talk her out of a rabbit. I have two I inherited from a now-disinterested daughter, and they don't make very good pets, imo. Maybe you can litter train them, I haven't tried that because ours live outdoors in a hutch, but they produce a lot of waste. I've read that they have no control over expulsion of feces pellets so I don't know how they can be trained in that regard. They also don't really have any affinity for humans, and they generally don't enjoy being handled or played with. I'm sure some other owners here will have had different experiences, but what I've read suggests that mine are more common.
