How do I install my CPU & System Temp Sensors?

I just picked up a brand new Lian Li PC-A77 Full Tower case. BTW, this case is SWEET! Anyway, it comes with a fan speed/temp controller.

http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/p...dex=25&ss_index=61&g=t

This controller has one CPU temp sensor and two system temp sensors. It also has three wires for controlling/monitoring the CPU and two case fans.

I've never used one of these so I have no idea how/where to install the sensors. Also, do I just plug the CPU fan wire into the wire coming off the CPU Fan? Doesn't this wire have to be plugged into the MB?

Any help would be much appreciated. If anyone knows of any guide for installing the sensors please post.

I'm actually considering not using this because it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Haha, I use that very same one but an older version here is a pic.
It is great for monitoring RPM and temperature readings but not on your chips, use software, I use Realtemp, PCWizard and the new Nvidia programs. You cannot put the sensors in a location to read accurate die temps. I use all three temp sensors, one each in my reservior and one for ambient air. The temp sensors if not mounted permanently can help you identify hot spots inside when your case is closed. I don't use it as a fan control either, because I prefer to control the fans in my box manually. You can monitor the RPM by running a single wire from the control to the sense wire of your fan, disconnect this wire from the fan plug so it is not hooked to anything else. This control can be a pain in the butt if you consider that most motherboards will control fan speed from the bios. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

So your saying take the yellow wire from the controller and connect it to the white wire on the fans I just want to monitor RPM? This will keep the controller from controlling the RPM?

Thanks for the help.

My unit came with extensions that plugged into the back of the control, I can't recall the colors but the red and black are power and are the same on all 3 pin fan plugs. If your fans are the PWM variety (same plug type w/ 4th wire to one side) like the stock Intel, doing this may interfere with the PWM control.
To answer your question yes, the sense wire connects to the control panel, the pin-outs are the same. As long as you have good ground you should read RPM. (ground contact will be made through your system, the black from fan to mobo > psu > control)
