How do I load more things into prefetech?

So I have 6 gigs of ram in Vista 64 bit and I want to load as many things into prefetch as I can. How do I do that?

Superfetch learns automatically based on what you use.

When I load into Vista, only 1500 mb of memory is filled... 25%

(Yes, I know more than 4 gigs is not necessary now... blah blah... I had 6 gigs lying around...)

I can tell superfetch is not loading everything. When I first load BF2, it takes a certain amount of time, but after it's loaded and I load it again, it loads the game superfast.

It should learn the patterns over time and tweak itself...

You cannot read your memory usage the same way in Vista. What you are seeing is how much RAM is available to the system. If you want to see you actual usage including what is cached by superfetch look under the performance tab in the task manager. Your actual free memory should be near 0, I currently have 15MB available.

Superfetch does not load everything. It will actually try to learn your habits, and then cache items it thinks you will use. For instance if you get up every morning at 8AM and check your e-mail, maybe at 7AM superfetch would cache Outlook so it would be ready for you. And as far as games go there is no good evidence that superfetch does much of anything for you.

I'll go home and check later. I was basing the 25% figure off of one of the Vista gadgets I downloaded that shows the ram and cpu usage.
