Your own web server? Go buy Windows 2000 Advaced Server, enable IIS server, set it all up, and there you go.

Try Visnetic Website for a better and more secure option. Setup is self-explanatory. Don't go with IIS or Apache/Linux stuff. You should see the APAR listings for those things every week.

Generally hackers don't mess with homegrown web servers...

If they do, they have way too much free time.

I wouldn't touch IIS with a ten-foot pole... You won't believe how many security holes it has...

Go with Apache, a much safer option...

Tret, may want to try phperl. If you're running windows it's a nice all-in-one package. It has apache, php, perl, mysql, pop3, ftp, servers all packaged and pre-configured. Cuts down on a lot of troubleshooting

Apache runs just as well on windows as it does on linux. Some may argue its not as great since 'windows has more security holes'.

You don't need Win2K Advanced Server for IIS. Even Professional has IIS capabilities if you just want to host stuff.
