how do i turn down video card settings?

I got a message pop up from the nvidia software saying there wasnt sufficient power for my video card and it said it was gonna lower my video card settings so that it could run stable. Well that didnt work and it is still acting up so i want to know where i go to turn it down even more. My psu is a 500 fortron psu and the video card is a 6800 ultra. Manual for the video card saids it needs a 480 watt psu.

Remember that a when a PSU get hot, they can lose efficiency, so you might not have 500W.

I don't mean to insult, but do you have 2 Molex power connector plugged into the card? Most Ultras need 2 power connectors.

The nView Desktop Manager should be found in your control panel. (Or by right -clicking on your screen)
If you can create a new profile, you can lower the video settings in performance & quality settings.

yes i do, if u dont have them plugged in the video card makes this high pitch alarm sound.

The only time I've seen the message you described is when I forgot to plug in the extra Molex connector. (oops!) Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could be. Usually the Fortron PSU's are fairly high-quality - someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

I thought 500 watts would be more than enough but i guess not.

Make sure the molex's your using isn't sharing power with anything else. Plug in two lines not 1 line split.

Yeah, I got that same warning on my 6600gt when I forgot to plug in the molex... Just make sure that tboth molex connectors are on seerate line and nothing else id drawing power from them.
