How do I turn off light in scanner?

I feel dumb for asking this, but I have a HP ScanJet 5370C Scanner, and after installing I scan some things. And I don't remember if the lamp was on inside it when I started, but it is now after I'm done. It shouldn't stay on all the time should it? I can't find anywhere in the help or any options in the programs about turning the lamp off.

I had an HP scanner before and you need to download the patch for the scanner to turn off after a certain amount of time after the last use. If you don't have the patch installed you better unplug your scanner. If the lamp is staying on all the time, it will burn out quick.

I keep mine unplugged unless I'm actually going to use it!

I don't have a HP scanner, but my Visoneer Paperport does the same. The light stay on constantly. The way the light shuts off is if I scan something, close the scanning manager, and close the paper port software. Then the light shuts off and will stay off until I open the software or the power is reset in the house.
