How do people drink Johnnie Walker Red Label?

I can tell you that here in Indianapolis, Macallan 12 is almost twice the price of Glenlivet 12. JW black is cheaper still.

I guess I was implying JW Red isn't a good blend. It's more like gasoline with a hint of kero.

Wow. Here in DC, I don't see Macallan 12 anywhere, unlike Philly where it was more common. Makes me realize that for $4 on the rocks, it really was a steal

Yea I see JW Black around here for around $23-35 for 750ml depending where you buy....

I'm not investing in a bottle, since the red was so disappointing. But I had completely forgotten about the possibility of just buying a shot to try it. Out of curiosity, I think I'll just get a shot of JW black at a bar one of these days.

Yeah Red is pretty bad... I've got an extensive Scotch collection and there is no way in hell Johnnie Red will ever get a spot in it.
Also, im not a fan of the blended scotches.... Single Malt >*

If you like Glenlivet and Macallan, try Glenmorangie. I was a big Glenlivet fan, but have been drinking Glenmorangie a lot more lately. Good stuff.

If you have a spare 80$ lying around, you can buy 'gift' sets where there are miniature JW Red, Black, Green, Gold, Blue bottles.

I bought Green, it was ok in the beginning, but after I had Glenfiddich, i dont drink it anymore. Glenmorangie is also pretty expensive in Boston, so I havent tried that yet.

Glenmorangie 18 is super smooth.

If you want an easy drinker try Aberlour 15.

What DC bars are you going to? I see the regular Macallan, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich everywhere.

They names a whisky Glenrothes? Glenrothes is a hovel, a pre-planned suburban town designed around a new coalmine which was a total failure and closed just a few years in. Granted, it's comparing apples to oranges (Highland Scotch to blended whiskey). Went a wedding Saturday night and they had JW Black and it was good on the rocks, but it's no Macallan.

Scotch drinkers here might like to try something from Highland Park Distillery. My favorite for the past 5 years or so.

Also, you can't really directly compare and rate Laphroaig against Glenmorangie against Aberlour, etc.

Each of these distilleries produce scotch that are different in their pallet and taste.
