How do the A40 and the S30 compare?

Looking at picking one of these up this summer. Opinions?

Image quality?

Go for the S30: 3.0mpx CCD and more manual features. Of course, if you need a good but lesser camera, get the A40 and have more to spend on accessories.

well how do you compare these two, one is a 3.2MP camera, another is 2.1. It basically depends on your needs.

same lens but the S30 has 50% higher resolution, a lot more features and comes with rechargable battery

Resolution isn't really a big deal. If that's all it's got, I'd prefer the A40 for it's lesser cost.

S30 > A40

I would say go for the S30 unless money is a major factor. I have friends with both cameras, and besides the extra features, the quality of the S30's construction and controls feel a LOT better than the A40. And of course, you have the bonus of higher quality pictures with the S30 (some people say it might even be better than the S40's picture quality! I have no idea on that, so don't take that to the bank )

go hold them both. i was about to buy an A40 last october but then actually went to the store and i simply didn't like how it felt in my hand
