I was thinking of oc'in my system but I am worried because if I fry something, I may not be able to return it (I have a 3 years warrenty on parts that basically cover everything except overclocking).

If I overclock and then go back to normal will anyone know? Please explain this as I am a total newb to overclcoking. ALso, Asus premium sli board comes with AIbooster which is supposed to overclock. Is it worth using? What settings should I go to?

I am using a zalman cpu cooler and 4400 x2 processor.

Thanks

they wont know as in theres no logs kept of you overclocking

but sometimes they can tell by the damage caused (if u do fry something) but even then you can put that down to other things like your PSU, or mobo

Who are "They"?

Be conservative with the vcore and you'll be fine. You can always reset the CMOS and all are none the wiser. You'll be just fine.

SHould I use the ai booster, some other program or just oc myself in the bios.

I am really nervous becuase I do not want to fry my system (i am covered through monarch).

I did up it to 110% in aibooster and my aquamark went from 7400 to 8200 .

Is there a dummy guide to overclocking? I'm not really sure what I need to do if I have to do it myself in bios.

"they" can tell.

But that would require simple electrical test to deny or grant a waranty claim. Unfortunately, on a $200 processor or whatever, they don't care. This isn't a $3000 transmission that a mechanic can look at and say "You're RPMS redlined thus your waranty is void, sir".

They can tell still, but I dont think AMD is going to test any claims.

You shouldn't rma stuff that you have killed by dumb overclocking anyway. Just buy another one. If you can't afford to buy another one then don't overclock it in the first place.

You can preach all you want...There will be always people RMAing overclocked stuff, regardless of morality.
