Currently, when Windows shuts down, it shuts down the hard drives and everything else but it leaves the power supply and the fan cpu on. I have to manually flip the switch on the power supply to turn the comp completely off. I have the Raidmax PS that was offered for cheap at SVC recently ($14).

Any ideas??

Is this something that just began happening with the new power supply? Windows might just be acting up on you and putting the system in Standby, or if you have ACPI disabled in the BIOS on a Win2k system (perhaps WinXP too, I'm not sure) then you are left at the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen.

Check your ACPI settings - windows isn't turning the computer off, it's going into hibernation. Also check your BIOS settings. You don't want to bypass the switch on the back - it's there for a reason. It cuts the AC line directly and is useful as a last resort or if there's a short in the power supply.

Yes, it's an ATX power supply and I'm running Windows XP.

I'll check my BIOS settings.

Thanks!

If any others out there has any more tips on how I can correct this, I'd appreciate it!

It is just hybernating.

That switch phsicly cuts the power from the wall into the PWS. You should not have to touch it.

Does the computer turn on automaticly when you switch it back to "on"? If so, then the green sensing wire is shorted to ground somewhere.

Are you using the front switch to shut down? It is a "soft-off" switch, and it goes to your motherboard instead instead of the PSU for a reason. By default, it does not shut your computer down. It triggers the power-saving mode and either puts it to sleep or hibernate depending on the capabilities of your motherboard and other PC hardware. Some sleep modes leave CPU and PSU fans running. To turn it completely off, you must hold the button in for a few seconds. This prevents people from trying to use it to dangerously turn off their computer without shutting down, and provides a convienient way to hibernate/sleep/etc.
