How do we prevent terrorists from attacking our schools?

I thought about this before back in September, but now this VT bomb scare thing has me really worried...

If we can't even protect the kids in school from each other, what's preventing a well-armed group of terrorists from creating another massacre???

Why would they want to?? With the way things are going now, the future of the U.S. is being raised to be stupid in public schools. We're going to take ourself out.

US public schools are said by so many to be sh't. Yet, most of the world sends its best kids to US colleges and universities.

And most of the kids attending US colleges and universities come from the US public school system.

Heh, noone is. Our public schools do suck. But we still have an everwhelming lot of exceptional students throughout the country with increasingly better test scores and credentials than those in the classes before them. Our colleges are the best in the world, yet our public high schools blow (for the most part). I guess that's why maybe a lot of people say college is so difficult- they actually have to study! :Q

Most kids coming from other countries get an education there and go to college here. That says nothing for public schooling. The government has turned public education into a business with all it's lack-of-funding, etc. and the public schools lack of spending-common-sense that has turned the schools into crap-holes for kids.

Kids that come from the public schools who do well in big, good state schools are usually the ones getting 4.0 GPA's and such. It would be cool to see the statistics of who goes to college and who doesn't.

The word is "ourselves," a$$hole. I had a public education. So did my wife. So do my kids. I guess it makes more sense to pay attention in public school than to go screw off in private school.

Again, how do our public schools blow and yet turn out college-ready students???

Maybe too many of our kids blow beyond public school redemption.

Maybe it's genetics at fault.

That's just the thing.. I doubt terrorists would do anything at a school setting since they already know the kids will blow away each other here in the US. Sad, but true.

The same way we prevent them from attacking any other place in America. Try to think outside of the box.

Public schools have a bad rep from some of the "bad apples" out there, but overall they are hardly the trash that some of you are describing them to be. Are there cities that need extensive overhauls of their public school systems? Yes...but there are plenty of good systems as well...

Realistically there is little to do. We just have to hope they are significantly weakened/terminated to the point that such an attack is excheedingly unlikely.
