How do you clean your George Foreman grill?

I'm just wondering because I cook salmon on mine quite often (yum) and now every time I fire the thing up, it smells like fish.

Anybody have a tip on how to clean the grill so it doesn't smell afterwards? And don't say Febreze.

A toothbrush and clorox bleach


seriously, I think a sponge and dishwashing soap would work fine

I do salmon on mine quite a bit, and it is a PITA to clean. I clean it while it's warm, but it still smells like fish the next time I fire it up.

Salmon == best fish

Nah, I tried that (the soap, not the bleach ). Maybe my dishwashing soap just sucks.

Just BBQ it, much easier and tastier in the long run. Slap a little honey and sage on there, baste the skin lightly with olive oil, toss on grill. Mmmmm mmm.

Ah, well at least it's not just me. Maybe I should get a new one and keep one just for fish.

I agree, salmon is the most delicious fish, and I try new fishes at seafood restaurants all the time. I always come back to good ol' salmon, though.

I do, in the summer, but its cold and rainy right now so indoor is much easier.

BTW Old Bay seasoning is awesome on salmon and most seafood if you've never tried it. It seems to be more popular on the east coast than the west.

the Foreman has to be one of the easiest things to clean. little bit of dish soap, a sponge, and just wipe it clean.

I've forgotten to clean it after using it a few times and still a couple days later, stuff just wipes right off. Personally, I don't ever smell anything I may have cooked previously on it.

Fish usually has a strong smell to begin with so that may be an exception. I know when I make tuna fish, I wash my hands after draining the water out of the tuna can and it seems like my hands smell like tuna for the next hour or so after I wash them 10 times.
