So here's my latest smoothie design: "The Hulk"
1 small or medium Avocado
2 tablespoons of Hemp Hearts (aka raw shelled hemp seeds)
8oz Vanilla rice milk
2 tablespoons of Granulated sugar
Big squirt of Vanilla extract
Ice (about double the amount of the rest of the ingredients)
Blend & add more milk as needed to make it drinkable. The goal is to make a sweet avocado smoothie that tastes almost like a vanilla milkshake. The sugar edges out the avocado flavor & brings out the sweetness of the avocado. You don't want to add so many hemp seeds that it starts to get that planty taste, either, so you'll kind of have to play with the ratios to adjust for how fresh your ingredients are & how it tastes to your palette. You can use whatever milk too - dairy, almond, whatever, and just add a bit more sugar & vanilla for the flavor.
I've been making this pretty much daily for the past week, totally hooked! I first tried it at a Vietnamese Pho restaurant, they had an Avocado Boba smoothie (with the little tapioca balls at the bottom) & it was actually really good. The first sip or two tastes like liquid avocado, but then the sugar flavor blends with it & it's really pretty tasty (if you like avocado). The hemp seeds are the non-THC kind; I like using them better than powdered hemp protein because they blend up better (not gritty) & can be used as a protein source, so you're getting protein, good fats, etc. from this smoothie. Plus it tastes great :awe:
Also, you because it tastes similar to a vanilla milkshake, you can turn it a Mint & Chip ice cream shake pretty easily. Just add some peppermint extract (just a tiny little drop) & some cocoa powder, or else throw in some (dark) chocolate chips & blend it up. I made that last night & it was pretty awesome!
