Find something that makes you happy, and try to do it. Beer is a depressant, so that has the potential to make it worse. (ie. if you are depressed that your girl just broke up with you, drinking could lead to you crying like a schmuch and making the "drunk call" to her. Not good)

Hanging with friends is a good idea.
