interior and exterior, just getting ideas.

I keep the interior free of expired lunch meat. Other than that, it gets rained on once in awhile.

Once this tree left a bunch of seeds or whatever on the car. Clogged up the vents, left weird brown stains all over the outside, etc.. I was going to let them sit a couple years hoping they would rot off, but eventually i brushed them off when my father yelled at me. Other than that, I'm on the rain team.

When I get an oil change, Jiffy Lube vacuums the inside. Rain keeps the outside good enough.

Every other week I do a basic hand wash and clean windows inside and out, dress up the wheels/tires and vacuum. This usually takes about an hour. Every few months I spend a few hours and also clean the interior, armor all, and hand wax. This takes several hours.

Go pick up a 20 dollar buffer and stop wasting your time...

Having a junky car that I don't care of it's appearance is great. It also makes me sad, that I direct my $450 beast better than the much more expensive cars. It goes without saying that no matter how much you pay for your car, you still have to wait in traffic like the rest of us poor schmoes.

vacumn cleaner
scotch guard
occasional steam vac with hand attachment
low gloss armor all dash cleaner protectant
basic wax, the synthetic stuff that lasts atlesat 6 months. less gloss but who gives a sh*t, waxing is work i'd rather not deal with.
washing car brush with long handle to make washing a 5 minute or less task. water blade squeegee for quick dry.

I probably hose it off about 5 times a week. Squeegie the windows and partially dry with a towel. Mostly because there's a large tree over the driveway.

I try to give it a full sudsy wash every weekend with a sheep fleece. Towel it dry. Shine the tires. Wipe door jambs and weatherstripping.
If there's rain imminent within 24 hrs I skip the weekend wash.

Every month or so I vacuum it out and smear conditioner all over the dash.
Every couple months I'll wax the thing. Sometimes use plastic polish on the head and taillights.

When you scotchgaurd it, do you do one light coat one day, wait 12 hours and then apply another light coat?

this is what i understood the directions to mean. wonder if this scotchgaurd actually works.

hm did it really say to do two coats that far apart? i never bothered. and yes it works, just spill some water on it and see if it soaks in quick.
i only rescotchguard every couple of years, its probably something you don't want to keep reapplying without washing the seats with a steamvac or whatever hand attachment.

I take it down to the car wash and get the "managers special". Hand wash, hand wax, complete interior clean and wipe with shiny stuff. $50
