Forgive me for being totally ignorant about A/V topics, but I have some issues for ANY Syntax Olevia 27/30" LCD TV owners out there who'd like to give some input...
I had Time Warner HD/Digital cable (motorola cable box through Ypbpr...) and HD stations looked awesome. Regular broadcast stations looked good too through digital cable. I decided to cut down on costs and canceled my digital/HD service, and now my LCD TV gets fed by:
A few very specific questions for any video gurus:
ANY input is helpful. I'm not asking anyone to answer all my questions. Thanks guys!
I had Time Warner HD/Digital cable (motorola cable box through Ypbpr...) and HD stations looked awesome. Regular broadcast stations looked good too through digital cable. I decided to cut down on costs and canceled my digital/HD service, and now my LCD TV gets fed by:
- 1. Standard cable - pretty bad, definitely not as good as digital
- 2. an old DVD player through S-Video (with the red/white audio) - Not too bad
- 3. an Xbox through the standard RCA cables (yellow/red/white) - Decent
A few very specific questions for any video gurus:
- 1. When I had digital/HD, some stations that broadcast in HD still showed up as 4:3. For example, Conan O'Brian on NBC-HD had HD pq but it was in 4:3, whereas Jay Leno was HD pq and 16:9. Why is that?
- 2. Is there a noticeable difference between progressive, HDMI, DVI DVD players on this TV?
- 3. Is an OTA HD Receiver worth it? There is an LG model that has both an HDMI DVD player and HD receiver I believe. Do I have to mount an antenna onto it also?
ANY input is helpful. I'm not asking anyone to answer all my questions. Thanks guys!
