I have a G9. I use index for left and scroll, and middle for right. Thumb is for side buttons. I have the large body with full weight, and I rest my palm on the back.

Trackballs kind of suck unless you need something that's better stationary. I use one on my bed for my bedroom computer, but that's it. You have to clean the ball fairly frequently. It gets tacky, and it makes it hard to have fine control of the pointer.

Index on left button, middle finger on scroll wheel, ring finger on right button. I think I started doing that because some FPS games had you use all three buttons and switching fingers back and forth seemed slower.

I don't care how people hold their mouse. Just as long as they don't pick it up every two seconds.

Right handed. Thumb curled around the back-left corner, pointer finger on the left button (and middle button when scrolling), middle finger on the right button, ring finger along the left side, with the pinky resting on the mouse-table interface, partially tucked under the ring finger.

I am left handed, but since I've gotten used to using other people's computers(for instance, at school) where the mouses are ALWAYS kept on the right, I tend to use my mouse on the right side with my left hand. Yeah I end up holding it funny but I'm used to it now. I also sometimes mouse with my right hand.

Thumb on side button, index on left button, middle resting on wheel, ring resting on right button. I use my index finger on left button, scroll with middle finger, move middle finger over to use right button. I don't use my ring finger for the right button. Don't know why.

My daughter's left handed, and I encouraged her to use a mouse in her right hand. A PC is easily customized for the individual, but it's a right hand world. You run into too many foreign PCs, and some have explicit right handed mice, so it would make it worse going from a lefty setup at home, to a righty setup when out.

My kids are both lefties, and have been using computers since about 18 months old. I've always had them use their right hands for the mouse. They never had any problems with it. Mice just aren't left hand friendly, so I made sure they were used to it from early on.
