How do you install RC5 on win NT without Administrator rights?

You should be able to run it, but you can't install it as a service without Admin rights...

I was afraid its not possible, it is however a pitty because my faculty is not enrolled into RC5 and such and has like 300 PCs basically doing nothing 16 hours a day and being used by students for maybe only 8 hours or so.
And no the sys adm won`t even think about installing stuff like RC5, so I thiought there might be a way for me to do it for him

If he wont even think of it, then you dont have permission right? Thats a no-no.

If you can run it like jatwell says, then you can only run it when your logged on.. I guess.

You can allways set the client as screen saver with blank screen...

Don't install RC5 (or Seti) if you don't have permission. It can get the team disqualified.

BTW - Are you a DPC member?

mmm... weird! I posted the answer to this question on the DPC/tweakers board at the same time he asked it. Engineer noticed it anyways.
But as a DPC member I think you AT guys still have the right to know this little trick, if you don't know it already

Okay let's go (this works under NT4 and 2000, btw)

run cmd
run at TIME /interactive "cmd" (where time is one minute after now!)
if this works --> COOOL! if this results in an error --> too bad...
after 1 minute a cmd window pops up.
type taskmgr in it
a task manager opens which gives you admin rights for some -microsoft- reason
just run "dnetc -install" from any location and it has been installed as a service...

A friend of mine ICQ`d me yesterday afternoon if I knew it because he wanted to install rc5 on the faculty`s computers, he might have gotten the idea over at
[L]http://gathering.tweakers.net/showtopic/44167[/L]. I`ll ask him. As I did not know how to do it and am intrigued by the possibilities that are there to do such things, I asked here.



I personally do not crack; not fot Atech not for DPC. I think it is a waste of electricity/envirionment to leave your pc on (man, Am I going to get into trouble for saying this HERE)(In the case of the university the pcs are turned on anyway, so that doesn`t matter)

BTW I`m sure they do not mind students putting on rc5 on the pcs, but it is to much trouble for them to do it themselves and aren`t mad enough yet to give some off us more network rights, I`ll try the solution given both here and @ tweaker.net .I take that installing RC5 or seti goes the same way as I can see some use for seti compared to rc5.

PS I do not visit tweaker.net either as I prefer to read everything here as , I think the people here are more "mature", except for ot that is. Sorry frenzy, I`m not a dpc`er, I am a one man team.

As I`m not a team member yet and I`m going to get 150 PCs (300/2) in hands both teams can now start offering me money for joining theirs


BTW, I just downloaded the client, what is the difference between rc5, des and ogr?

And I saw at the link of frenzy that for several people his method didn`t work , so does anybody know other ways for installing rc5 on NT without admin rights? ?
