How do you make bootable CD's?

I'm needing to update my BIOS but the floppy port on my motherboard is damaged so I can't boot and flash it from a floppy. I tried copying all the files across from a floppy system disk to a CD plus the new bios and falsh program (io.sys, msdos.sys, drvspace.bin, command.com, bxe.f2e and af771.exe). I've set my CD drive to be the primary boot drive, but I get a message saying "BOOT FROM ATAPI CD-ROM: FAILURE...." and then it boots from the hard drive. Can someone please tell me the proper way to make bootable CD's to do this.

You can flash your bios from your HD.. That would be easier... I don't think its possible from a CD, not sure though..

Yeah - i thought about that. Windows ME doesn't let you get into MS-DOS without it being in a windows window though. The flash program won't let you flash memeory from an MSDOS window. Is there anyway of booting to MSDOS rather than Windows ME. I've tried holding doen control at the start and it doesn't give you the option to boot to DOS anymore. Also remember my floppy port is damaged so i can't use a floppy in any way.

If you are using a program like Nero, then you actually have to select the option to create a bootable CDROM.

For version 5.0.3.8, you need to have a boot disk ready made, then select CD-ROM (Boot). It will prompt you to insert the floppy when required and it will make the CDROM bootable. It's not enough just to place boot files on the CDROM....certain files need to be placed outside the ISO CDROM file system for it to be recognised as bootable.

I've tried using Nero and it's option to make a boot CD from a floppy, but it didn't work. I don't understand why not. That's mainly why I was asking how to make a boot CD manually. Any thoughts on what the problem is? As I said the floppy that i used to make the CD in Nero with was a system disk with the following files on it - io.sys, msdos.sys, drvspace.bin, command.com, bxe.f2e and af771.exe.

Have you made sure that you can boot from that floppy?

You will also need CDROM drivers on that floppy in order for it to work properly.

The best way to make sure that it works is to boot up from the floppy, make sure that the CDROM is recognised, and that you can do everything that you want the bootable CD to do on the floppy first.
