It's hard to quantify, but I would say intelligence is best measured by the ability to build on existing knowledge without explicitly being told how to.

Mozart died a pauper. By your logic, he must have been an idiot.

Well, despite his savant like abilities in music, he certainly had zero intelligence in wealth management. but then again, not much you can do when you have untreated bipolar disorder

When I am just speaking with someone, it has much to do with their vocabulary, and knowledge that most have forgotten since school. I also like to hear people's interpretations of art, movies, etc. I know I sound judgmental but that was the question.

I use grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. The ability to communicate is one of the most basic examples of human intelligence and I use it as one of only two gauges in determining a person's worth. A person that is unable to use proper speech skills, like grammar and vocabulary, in English is obviously deficient in basic human thinking. The second factor in the value of a person as a human being is whether or not they like The Godfather. The ability to appreciate art is another vital indicator of a person's intelligence and potential contributions to society.

i strongly condemn this..
people grammar is not all.
what about guys in peurto rican, japan, china
who dont speak english ??

 I didn't know grammer and spelling were unique to English. There are many ways to determine intelligence without a chemistry exam.

In the end really though, inteligence dosent matter all that much. If you work really hard in school and your not to bright. You still know more then the guy who didnt go at all or was lazy. There are more things to consider here, really I think the point of these tests are so that some people can say"ha ha I r smarter then you!" Different people are better at different things.

If you get above 180 marks in that test, that i have posted there you re iq is above 135 ~ 140 ....
if you get above 400 marks .. i think you re iq will be above 160 (that is if you re not trained in that field or if you re not from india.. or if you re not a jee lecturer)

So 4 years ago my IQ was a lot higher than it is now?

Math isnt the be all end all of intelligence. I personally suck at math but excel in many other areas.

As has been mentioned, there are many types of intelligence. My own rule of thumb is a persons ability to make reasonable decisions in an unfamiliar hostile environment with rigid time constraints and the willingness to accept responsibility.

There is no one definition of "Intelligence" and the debate on how to quantify it has raged over a few centuries. For an example of one widely-used IQ Test, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), see this in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W...ult_Intelligence_Scale

There are many other ways to quantify; some general discussion here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_testing

The common thread, though, is that "intelligence" is composed of many different measures of what is known already, of performance on different tasks, and of ability to "think through" or solve problems.

If that's the case, i'm screwed.

That may be one facet of it?

I've met a couple of people who are mentally slow. I've thought how did this person get this job? But their redeeming factor is that once they learned it, they don't make any big mistakes like the others.

A degree isn't proof of intelligence. That just shows you have the ability to parrot information. I've met too many degreed idiots to put much stock in a piece of paper. Anything short of a PhD is proof of nothing.

That's not an IQ test; it's a chemistry/math test.
