How do you name your computers?

I've seen a lot of people name their computers after various things, like ex-girlfriend, (???) Greek gods, etc.

Just curious to see everyone's naming conventions.

I name all my PCs after a nickname I call my son. Like Pookie1, Pookie2....etc. I label all my HDs (over 25 now) after my favorite cartoon characters.

Now that's innovative. Are you a history buff or something?

I don't really have names for mine.

I'm naming mine for the Shivan ships in Freespace 2

My desktop is ravana, a large, powerful, (fast for a cap ship), capitol ship.
My laptop is Nahema, a (much) smaller, fast moving bomber.

"Ravana" pronounced "RawaN" was a Demon King of "Lanka" know today as "shri Lanka" ...

Also, one of my servers' name is "flower"

one of my workstations' is "whackjob" another is "multimedia" < yeah I know very original...

I favor pratical names over some of the other names listed. Usually it includes the processor speed in it or some other aspect of the machine, but my computer at school is named Unknown. It works well for network anonymity.

Wow, I just named it after my self. But I don't actually call it by its name. It just servers as a network identity.

Just like me - I have to work with too many computers to keep them straight. Only a good naming convention can help. So I have names like:
486-66, Pi-133, Pii-dual-450, Piii-450, Piii-600, Piv-dual-1700, AXP-1533 , etc...

It is uncreative but sure helps me find the computers quickly. Then on each computer I name the drives in a boring manner: System, Data, Temp, Games, etc... depending on the number of drives.

I use Unknown for names and temporary passwords quite often (don't bother trying unknown is not for any password that you guys can access over the internet).
