How do you pronounce Friedrich?

I say "Frederick" but someone told me it's pronounced FREE-dur-ick!

The person was in the AC biz for 50 years and said that's how it's pronounced.

I remember a decent brand of hifi speakers - Fried. Spelled out (Fried speakers) someone may think you cranked up AC/DC too loud last night!

I always called 'em Freds.

Edit: On second thought, it'd probably be pronounced Freed-rick.

I'm going to miss NY next year but in Boston that's a new accent!

Yeah, pretty much how I've heard it pronounced for American companies.

Though the German pronunciation is what 2Xtreme21 posted.

I don't think what I said is right. There's no 'e' between "Fried" and "rich" so it'd be just Freed-rick.

This guy was like the Godfather and his experience with old AC was impressive. He was impressed that I knew what a tin can was.

Lol.

There are a lot of Italian American HVAC companies in New York going way back (well, as far as modern air conditioning goes). I wouldn't be surprised if his pronunciation is an acceptable way of pronouncing it.

Oh ok. I have no major experience with the German language, anyway, so I was just agreeing with you because it sounded right.

Yeah definitely don't poke fun with the way people pronounce stuff especially when they are well wisened up from years of experience. That kind of knowledge is priceless.

According to The Clash - The Magnificent Seven, it'd be pronounced Fried-Rick. He apparently hung out at 7-11 with some guy named Karlo Marx.

It's pronounced "Froaderick", kind of like how Igor is pronounced "eye-gore".

I say it however he says it? I think this is about a brand though, so I'd say fredrick because that requires the least amount of effort.
