how do you reset cmos?

I don't know how you reset it. I messed with some settings and accidently forgot to change the voltage on my new mushkin redline xp4000 2gb to 2.8v instead of 2.6v. I left at 2.6v on accident so when i restarted the screen went blank and the computer was still running with one of the onboard leds on the mother board showing red.

Please help.

Look in your motherboard manual. That's what it's meant for.

But clearing the CMOS is one of the few things in the manual.

Well, their FAQ says "Please be advised to clear CMOS according to the description in user's manual."

move the cmos jumper, it should be red and near the bottom right of the board to the other pins, and then back again after about 30sec.
Trust me it's in the manual.

Move the jumper like he said, but before putting it back take out the battery, wait for 30 sec. then put the battery back in and the jumper back.

The most basic thing to reset the CMOS on ANY motherboard is to simply remove the battery for about 5 mins. that's all it ever takes.

Hi, No need to remove the batt when using the jumper to reset CMOS SETUP. The jumper disconnects the batt and shorts out the caps in the circuit to reset it. Cap values vary with the designer of the board and are calculated to give you time to change the batt without losing the SETUP. Can go up to several hours. Hope this helps a bit, Jim
