How do you save all your Bookmarks for Firefox ?

How do you save all your bookmarks for Firefox ? I have to create a new install, but I don't want to loose all my saved passwords, home pages, and saved bookmarks.

You can do it the manual way by backing up the profile from here

or with a utility called MozBackup

Check out xmarks too. It's multi-browser, and it has a pretty useful history (aka backup) function.

In firefox sign up for an account and it will automatically cloud them for you. If you have to install on a new machine or reinstall later just log in and let it sync up and you'll have them all back.

Yeah, do what Puffnstuff said, everything is encrypted as well.
No external tools needed.

I go to Bookmarks | Show All Bookmarks | Import and Backup | Backup.

The file will be a JSON. To restore go to the same location and use Restore and chose the JSON file.

Profile can be saved as mentioned. I don't trust the cloud. I use cloud servcies, but I encrypt my files myself.

I have used the manual method, MozBackup, and Sync over the years. Right now I am on Sync and it makes things so much easier (and I'm not just talking about bookmarks). I still use MozBackup for an account that I don't want to have settings saved elsewhere, but that's about it.

I save them as a .JSON as mentioned above. I also export them to .HTML using the Firefox Bookmark Manager. I also copy the places.sqlite file from your Mozilla Firefox Profile ... I also use FEBE to back up all my extensions and addons. It also backs up the Bookmarks.

Xmarks keeps all my bookmarks synced across all my FF installs, where ever. It's free, works perfectly, and has saved my bacon on more than one fresh installs of Windows.

Save to your choice of external storage

Go to the other install to which you need them

Open bookmarks menu

Import bookmarks from the storage
