How do you tell if you TRULY have an Athlon XP Mobile?

Howdy,
What's the code mean on the AMD CPUs?

Trying to tell if I really got the Mobile XP2500+ that I ordered, or did they give me a desktop Barton.


The code on my CPU is:

well mobiles run at 1.45v right? so if you set the vcore to default and check it with mbm and it says 1.45, you have a mobile, if it says 1.65, you have a desktop

you have a mobile chip.

AXMH isn't listed but it's a mobile.

default voltage is 1.45 which the Q stands for.

thetman, on the abit nf7-s and dfi infinity, the chip will boot at a different voltage than 1.45 so it's not a good test.

the best is looking at the code and you have a mobile.

use CPU-Z or wcpuid, it'll tell you. it should boot up w/ mobile athlon xp though.

Upon installing, my Asus A7V333 didn't recognize the CPU. Didn't even allow for manual control in the BIOS to set the FSB, multiplier, voltages, etc., because it doesn't recognize the processor type.


Went to the Asus website. Only v2.0 of the motherboard supports Barton core CPUs. My motherboard is v1.1.


RMA'ing the CPU back to NewEgg.
