How does gay marriage hurt you ?

I can respect the will of the majority, but NOT when it comes at a cost of civil rights to the minority.

Please, explain to me how gay marriage rights infringe on the rights of others ?

Because if it doesnt, and I firmly beleive this to be true, then there is absolutely no difference between a ban on gay marriage and a ban on inter-racial marriage.

For those of you opposed to gay marriage, are you opposed to inter-racial marriage ?

Well since we are paying, as in right nowm, through our medical insurance premiums for any medical care that a inner city kid has to have it does affect us.

So you think it is fair that the majority of this country have voted to remove the rights of a group of minorities, even though granting them that right in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM infringes on the rights of the majority to life liberty and pursuit of happiness ?

I just had a long debate with a buddy of mine. He's somewhat religious, far and away NOT a fundamentalist, but he did vote for the same-sex marriage ban here in KY. I boiled his argument down to this:

He's ok with civil unions but not with marriages.



That argument just doesn't make any sense. Atheists can get married. Sterile couples can get married. Mentally retarded people can get married. So why not consenting adults who happen to be gay?

Nothing, I was just making a choice, as if I had to make one. They can express their commitment to each other anyway they want, there are priests/rabbis out there that would marry them. It is not illegal really, you won't be arrested for having a gay marriage. I know people who did it.

Sadly, I think you've read too far into my post. Did I imply anywhere in my post that I would vote against gay marriages? No. I simply said that the option to vote for this has not come up in my state, so I have not had the option to decide my preference on such marriages.

I am talking about DENYING someone their civil rights simply because of their sexual preference.

No matter how you want to put it, no matter how many baseless analgies you come up with , these 13 states have voted to pass a law of PURE DESCRIMINTION.

I am trully ashamed of my country for allowing this to happen.
