Would be kinda interesting to go through but I hate the idea that it's forced and that they schedule these things during the work day. They really need to take into account that people work and can get fired over this.

I realize they want people who were at the scene of the crime and probably have limited selection but at least pay people their work wage and arrange something with their work place so they don't get fired.

How dare the duly elected government transact business during work hours? They really need to take into account that people work and can get fired over this. People may be fired but, it is illegal to do so in all 50 States.

I see you failed HS civics. It's all right, you have the right to remain ignorant.

I took computer science, not law, how can you fail a class that you never took? I'm sorry I don't know everything about everything. Not sure what you're even saying that about.

My apologies, I didn't realize your ignorance stemmed from a birth defect (being born in Canada).

I was on a murder trial a couple of years ago. Fascinating stuff.

My dad's wife was on a capital murder case once where an inmate serving life killed another prisoner. She said they had to have a prison interpreter come in because the lingo and slang they used are so foreign. Guy had already been in for 20 years or something before killing the other dude.

You can always try ignoring any notices. Most courts don't bother going after anyone who doesn't show up. (Most, not all.)

People like the rights, but they're not so keen on the responsibilities.

How about they pay if they want my service?
Everyone in the courtroom is paid very well, except the most important people, the jury.
The judge, the prosecutor, the lawyers, the bailiff, the court reporters, all are paid very well in California. Except the jurors. Fuck that.
I just tell them I was wrongly arrested once(true), and I am biased against the police and prosecution. Works every time.

Perhaps you'd like the professionals to decide your guilt or innocence instead of your peers.

Been on a jury once and got a winner, two months on a civil trial. It was a couple years ago with a Ford on Ford wreck that resulted in three fatalities. Luckily my employer has a nice jury duty policy. Got my full check plus got to keep the jury duty money.

None of my peers serve on a jury. Unemployed people with nothing to do, retired people with nothing to do, govt employees who get paid if they show up or not. Regular people who have to work for a check and dont get paid if they dont show up? Not on a jury.

Aside from revisiting the definition of "peer," do you really want to limit the jury pool to those above your economic status? I mean, that's worked so well for the U.S. economy perhaps it should be applied to the legal system as well?
