How does my CPU and graphics measure up ?

i have a amd athlon 64 3200+ and ATI radeon Xpress 200 ......was wondering how it measures up compared to a P4 and some of todays graphics card and other onboard video....


P.s I can play farcry with no problems but the graphics have to be on low

take the x300se benchies and take 10-15% away from the results(more fro even newer games like DOOMIII and HL2)

or take a x600xt benchmark and divide that by 3.

in other words, a little faster than a geforce2 ultra.

The ATI Xpress 200 is technically half of an x300, with only 2 of the 4 pipelines that the x300 has.

Wow, I'm surprised it plays FarCry at all with those graphics

To give you some idea

FarCry at very high quality 1024x768 no AA/AF
ATi X300 = 17.6fps
GeForce 6600GT = 63.1fps
GeForce 6800 Ultra = 102.9fps

out of everyone that replied the only person i somewhat understood was mwmorph lol i dont know as much as u guys when it comes to hardware and im not a gamer i just play a game here and there frm time to time....

CPU is pretty decent, but the graphics card kinda blows

I gave you a list showing you how you card would compare to other cards on the market. How is that not answering your question about "measuring up"?

if you can play your games decently, then don't worry about it. if you want to play anything new (such as HL2), you'll need to fork out some cash for a better graphics card.

isnt it going to be almost 4 years old soon? lol I know ATI8500 came out August, 2001.

As for OP, if you think your onboard graphics card is enough to play Far Cry, then you dont need to upgrade since it doesnt seem you really care for image quality and high resolution gaming. So if it suits your needs then it's fine. However, for gamers, your onboard videocard is like not having a videocard.

well if your comparing to other onboard video, you'd be at the top of the food chain
