OP would probably get his ass kicked by a couple Brownie Scouts.

Go to the CIA website and submit an application.

If / once you are hired, those kind of options may or may not be made available to you, depending on your presence and skillset.

Unfortunately, all the CIA stuff is overseas.

NSA has some domestic programs, the State department has some programs (like protecting diplomats, and doing advance work or investigation), The White House Communications has some interesting positions, Treasury (Customs, Secret Service, others) have some interesting positions ... they're out there, but you first have to get hired, second, get a clearance, third: perform and advance.

Another path might be to go into the Military (pick a branch, any branch ... I've always been partial towards teh SEALS), get into and survive Special Forces and whatever duty assignments you may or may not get, then get out and work for a contract agency like Blackwater (generally better pay, fewer politics, and a little more room to "free style").

Good luck

lol. Are you an idiot? What makes you think you could get into the most elite branch(es) of the military with no training and no experience?? You actually thought you could just go and sign up somewhere and they would train you from scratch?

That's like saying you want to become the president of a major company straight out of high-school. No training (college), and no experience (the real work place).

No-name pieces of trash? Too good for that? Kill yourself before you do something dumb like join the army and get others who aren't worthless to society killed with your attitude.

I've actually seen posters in airports advertising that the CIA is hiring for its national clandestine service. I wouldn't think an organization like that would need to advertise too loudly

Analysts are hard to come by... They need alot of them, and it's probably the most boring job imaginable. They aren't recruiting spies...

precisely. That, and they'll hire a handful out of a hundred or more applicants, if that even hire anyone. They also recruit heavily on campuses of large universities, holding seminars and usually having a point of conduct that acts as a local recruiter. At least, this is the practice at The Ohio State University, but then again, only a few years back a new specialization of International Studies was created: Security and Intelligence... often heralded as a major in Homeland Security. Courses are diverse and numerous. That's actually my major.
Had the idea of going into Military Intelligence and trying to get myself into a government intelligence agency. I've ditched the first, but if I get out of the Army after my contract instead of doing a career like I want to, then I might still look into DoD security positions. Want to stray from the analytical positions though. My mind doesn't work best in that style.

Didn't MI6 do some recruiting through ads on some online game? I think it was in some FPS and in a subway station in the game, there was a number to call for MI6.

First, you have to kill someone important. If the cops figure out it was you, then you fail. If no one ever figures out it was you, then you get chosen for that type of job.

Start by going down to your local US Army recruiting station and ask for a "Ranger" contract. US Army Rangers are "entry level" special forces. Once you become a Ranger you will have the opportunity to move into other areas if you are good enough.

If I do this is there any way they can pigeon hole me into being a crappy basic Iraq grunt?

Well if you wash out of Ranger school you're still in the Army so bye bye!

Even if you pass Ranger school you're still going to Iraq or the likes.

You have your choice of Iraq or Afganistan. Either way, you're going to where it smells like shit and the locals hate you.

such as San Francisco?

either way the OP has shown he is not mentally qualified for it.

Like someone said earlier, you don't "apply" for those jobs typically. Someone offers is to you based on the performance, reputation, and integrity that you've shown at your current gov/military job.

It's too bad you don't have the balls to say that to a real soldier coming home from Iraq. I'd pay good money to see what happens. Oh well, douche.

...that's what most SF start as: regular infantry.

Expect to go to Iraq and be shot at for next to no money

You've already proven in this thread you are not the caliber needed for SF.

Because I don't want to be like every other no name piece of trash over there?

I have no problem with the idea of being shot at, but I'm not going to do it as generic infantry. If that means no SF for me then so be it.

I have several friends over in Iraq right now who most definitely are not pieces of trash.

You suck big donkey balls, dude... big, sweaty donkey balls.

Not afraid of being sent to Iraq, but not wanting to go as a normal soldier. Boring waste of time.

You know nothing and insult the men and women in our armed forces who are there now and have been there. Please off yourself.

That 'boring waste of time' is the experience and extensive training that helps the military learn who is and isn't a worthy candidate for future advancement. That definitely includes deciding who is and isn't worthy of being put into schooling for Special Forces and beyond. It's a hierarchy.
You can go to a recruiter and try for MOS 19X, which is the designation for those in training for Special Forces. Not sure how likely one is to get in without prior military experience.

Please, don't waste the Army's time though. With your attitude, you are most definitely not someone I would ever want to stand next to in combat, nor would any other individual in the military. Rangers and Special Forces are some of the most respectable yet crazy individuals out there. They love the shit and nearly all can basically be described as super grunts. The ones I have ran across have all been the most badass individuals, and the most worthy of respect, that I have ever met.
You'd be a waste of the Army's money and probably end up dead because a lot of the training would probably bore you and your lack of attentiveness would end up getting you killed.
Stay away. Please.

Looks like I should have put a "Currently enlisted soldiers need not post, please" message.

Well, this officer finds your opinions rather idiotic. Seriously, your attitude is ridiculous, and your contempt for the backbone of the US Army is breathtakingly ignorant. I suspect you're a teeny bopper so it's not entirely unexpected, but if you cannot grasp the fact that COMBAT experience as an infantryman is the perfect prelude to a special operations career, then perhaps the military is not for you. Perhaps you can make it into the Rangers first, and they are a step up from the regular infantry, though they specialize in Direct Action missions and not "covert black ops" from the video game world.

Anyway, you need to fix your attitude before you do anything else. Start getting into physical shape now and perhaps your mind will follow.

BeeV,

You just got peered out on ATOT in one major gaffe of a post. Even if you make it to Ranger Training Brigade, BUDS, SFAS or wherever, what makes you think your arrogance won't get you peered out during months of the most physically and mentally demanding training the U.S. government has to offer?

I just met I guy that I served with overseas. He was accepted in to the Department of State. He had to apply, though. Real smart, E-5 and single.

Yeah, I was in the Navy NAVCAD program in college. Unfortunately at the time I was in it, peace broke out (before Desert Storm) and they made cutbacks to the program. (I heard ithe whole program had been canceled in the early 90s.) I lost my pilot training slot to a ring knocker.

The Navy of course didn't want to lose all their training time on me so they met with me over a weekend in DC to ask me to participate in one of their several programs, from line officer to working at NMIC (Naval Intelligence) to being a navy seal. While they tried to make each opportunity seem sexy and dangerous, I really had my heart set on on jets. because they could not guarantee a pilot slot, I was able to get out of my contract.

While I have that certain moral flexibility they were looking for, I doubt that I could have stayed through the seals program. Well, I might have completed the training but I would definitely not be the person I am today.
