How does price matching work?

I bought a printer almost two weeks ago(20th June), and I paid $150 for it. This is at CompUSA BTW. Now I see that that not only the place I bought it from but all other places have dropped the price by twenty dollars, and Staples also has the printer on sale with a $30 rebate. Now I am sure I can price match with the price drop, but how about the rebate? It isn't a Staples rebate, it's a manufacturer rebate. Can someone tell me if I will be able to match the whole fifty dollars, or just the twenty, or none at all. Don't they price match rebates, as long as they are not rebates from the store instead of manufacturer rebates. Please let me know, because I have to do this tomorrow, otherwise the two week price matching period at compusa will be up after that.

This belongs in the "iwanna" thread. You can get your $20 from compusa, but not on the rebate. The rebate is probably valid for one week, and not the week you bought it. But ask the csr at the store. You could check the staples site for the printer rebate and the fine print will tell you when the rebate is valid. Bring your cash register receipt.

pricematching is running into the store and kicking the manager in the nuts as hard as you can...if he remains standing you don't get any money back....but if he fails to stand you get money back.

You need to give lap dance to the manager and all employees.
You can probably raise more than $20 doing that.

The technicial term for this is "Roshambo", although my spelling may be off. Oh, and if he does, ah, 'manage' to remain standing, he also gets to do it back to you.

not as funny as the other replies but;

take the printer back to compusa
buy it again from Staples

That is hoping they don't charge a re-stocking fee.
If they do, simply read the price matching/low price guarantee on their web site and see if they will match their own price within asome timeframe. Lots of stores do.

Good luck

Ah, I just went to CompUSA and got $20 back. I had forgotten, but I got a $20 rebate when I bought this printer, so after getting the $20 back, I only spent $10 more than they are selling them for at Staples. It's not worth it for me to take it back for that little a difference.

On a side note, I did return a pair of Logitech Z640 speakers I had paid $80 for because they had an out of date rebate sticker that I neglected to look at closely at time of purchase. I also returned a Digital/Webcam I got for $90 down from $150 at Staples. All the pictures came out yellow tinted. I went to CompUSA today and bought a SiPix SC2300 Digital Camera(I know it's not the best camera) for $80 on sale, down from $130 and no rebates, and I also got the same Logitech speakers I just returned yesterday for $50, counting the instant $15 off, and another $15 in rebates. That's $30 cheaper than I originally paid. I'm not embarrassed when it comes to taking things back, as long as it's not for just a few dollars. I saved a total of $100 today, being $20 from the printer, $30 from the speakers, and $50 from the camera.
