how does the readLine() work in java

If i have a txt file I want a comp to read what is the syntax to read the whole file.

String oneLine;


{
try
{
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("restaurant.in.txt));
oneLine = in.readLine();
}
I am assuming it is reading the first line. How would I be able to tell the machine to read the next line and store it as a seperate string and the next line and so forth?

hmm... well in your try put a loop for the file... like..
you should but the BuffereredReader outside the try too:

BufferedReader in = BufferedReader(new FileReader(restaurant.in.txt));
try{
for(;{
String line = in.readLine();
if(line == null) break;
}
}

If you want it to store it as a separate string each time... then I guess you can make a String array for that. Shouldn't be too hard.

why not use something like this....

vector v = new vector();
while( in.ready() ) {
v.addElement( in.readLine() );
}

*edit* and then convert to an string array?
